You can also use yourtax.nz to share an image for any scenario you run, which makes it easy to contrast how each party's policy would treat people in different situations. Data presented neutrally can still communicate values.
YourTax card, NZ Election 2026 tax policy impact, as at 6 Jul 2026. Scenario: a couple with one kid, owning their home. Income $380,000 a year, net wealth $1.9M. Estimated change to after-tax income per year, compulsory KiwiSaver included: ACT no estimate yet, Green Party minus $5,545, Labour $0, National $0, NZ First no estimate yet, Opportunity minus $2,145, Te Pāti Māori no estimate yet. "No estimate" means the party hasn't announced enough to calculate. From yourtax.nz, authorised by Steffen Rusten, hello@yourtax.nzYourTax card, NZ Election 2026 tax policy impact, as at 6 Jul 2026. fwiw here's a scenario that goes the complete opposite direction. A home-owning couple with $6.8 million in net wealth. Here if you want to check: yourtax.nz/s/hVNiUVHQA

It's because both the Greens and Opportunity have proposed universal income policies.

Heya, I made some changes today to make it clearer that positive numbers mean more in your pocket, not more tax paid. yourtax.nz/s/HOH0ZkaHv Does this help?

"Simmons’ parents helped, he says, with discipline, by feeding him, and by allowing the pair to live at home with them, paying $100 a week each in board." Always. Every time. Journalism, I wonder why we don't trust it.

Hey look, I want to increase public transport usage as much as anyone but...
Screenshot of Reddit post to r/Urbanism. Title: 'Is this idea too radical?'

Body:

Uhh. I am so desperate to get more people to ride the bus instead of driving in my town that I resorted to offering blow jobs to willing bus riders. My initiative was quite successful and ridership more than doubled.

This has me thinking, to encourage citizens to take the bus instead of driving, what if a municipality established a program that rewards those who ride the bus with free blowjobs. This not only gets cars off the road but it also employs local prostitutes who otherwise don’t have any work. Not only that but the municipality can provide std checks to everyone involved and collect dna and personal information from citizens too.

It’s a little rough around the edges and may not be legal everywhere but tbh it’s not my most radical idea.

EDIT: if you think fucking would be more effective than sucking that is ok with me. Also the sucking/fucking would not take place on the bus and would be totally anonymous.

Why are you parroting Luxon's "back to basics" nonsense? If nothing else, could you please differentiate yourself with your choice of words?

I don't think this is a big "we go to war" moment. This isn't a sign that the Government is about to announce a referendum. Seems to me that officials have been instructed to prepare in case we reach this point, not that this is now more likely than it was a week ago. cc @paullecomtephoto.nz
Text from the Treaty Principles Bill

Commencement

The Bill will come into force if a majority of electors voting in a referendum support it. The Bill will come into force 6 months after the date on which the official result of that referendum is declared.

If a majority of electors voting in a referendum do not support the Bill, it will automatically be repealed.

Your last saved meme is your moral philosophy.
Meme.

Top panel: goose saying: what causes housing to be an inelastic good?

Bottom panel: goose chasing a puffer jacket wearing a person, repeating the same question more aggressively.

This is a dark data quirk (from: weibo.substack.com/p/111224-zhu...)
I should note here that every time you see a major incident in China, whether it’s a truck driving into a train or wildfires or terroristic attacks like these, there’s a good chance there is precisely 35 people dead. This is because by China’s laws, if a public safety incident causes 36 death or more, than the mayor will get fired. So any more deaths than that, and it just gets reported as 35. Which means we actually have no idea how many people are actually dead.

Underestimating the price would be saying it cost ~$500. Saying you can rent a two bed in Sydney for $200? That’s criminally out of touch from anyone, let alone the Housing Minister.

Artwork titled Justicia Urbana by Chilean artist, Fabián Todorović Karmelić.

The artwork depicts ten people on a bus, people waiting for a bus, and a cyclist, crammed into a small space on the street, while one man in a private automobile enjoys more than enough space.

Apartments are sexy.
Ockham's 'Modal' building on the corner of Asquith Ave and New North Road.

The building has a prominent curve and dark glazed brick. It's five stories tall.

There's a street sign in the foreground.
