As simple as it is, it was Pokemon Gold on my Gameboy Color; gifted by my godfather. We had a hand-me-down snes before with games like DKC and Super Mario World, but I wasn’t too good at them. Gold however was the first game that I recall never putting down, and spent countless hours on.

Okay can I just appreciate this scene from the new Polar Opposites episode, visually? The mood and lighting with the compositing is excellent, and the visual of all the bad memories and lingering trauma as tearing through the stitchings of his poor recovery like ethereal sores? Wonderfully haunting.

Taira is spiraling in comparing himself to his friend and is being oppressed from the memories of mockery he picked up as an impressionable child. The orb memories are littering the floor of the train he sits in, like aethereal landmines waiting to be triggered. He holds one in his hand, unable to really keep away from them despite the knowledge of how they hurt him.
The background and texture of her are warped and psychedelic, with the framing at a warped Dutch angle.
