Zack, here's wishing you all the best. We desperately need a progressive alternative, and under your leadership the @greenparty.org.uk are offering that. Labour has utterly sold out.

"The Office for National Statistics estimates fully restoring the UK’s degraded peatlands could cost between £8bn-£22bn over the next 100 years," That was in 2019, it'd cost considerably more now. It'd need a major upfront cost. Angela is offering £79 million. www.ceh.ac.uk/sites/defaul...

Yes, millenarian is a weird thing. I believe that there are even sects of it in religions not related to Christianity and Judaism. I don't have much interest in it, other than it exists and it motivates some people. It's a weird cult like belief. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millena...

It seems that what I wrote here has been completely misconstrued. It was not some sort of support of Zionism. I was simply stating a fact, which explains why the US is so supportive of Israel because of the influence of the religious right. There are 20-50 million Christian Zionists in the US.

Stephen Barlow @steb77.bsky.social · 04/10/2026
No, it is your logic that is misconstrued. You are arguing against a point I didn't make. At no point did I imply it was okay, I was just stating a fact. It is the reason the US is so supportive of Israel, because the religious right is so powerful and influential in the US.

Although, the motivation of Christian and Jewish Zionism is different. Christian Zionists have wanted the return of Jewish people to Palestine, to fulfil some end of days type prophecy. Therefore, it is bizarre to conflate Zionism with Judaism. 2/2

There are far more Christian Zionists, than there are Jewish people, and a lot of Jewish people aren't Zionists. Also, Christian Zionism pre-dates Jewish Zionism by a lot. Both Christian and Jewish Zionists believe in the same thing, for different reasons. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christi... 1/2

Ivy Mining Bees from my backyard. I've been trying to photograph them for a while, but it has proved a bit of a challenged, because they constantly move around the Ivy flowers very quickly, making it very difficult to get precise focus and framing. The close-up is a crop to show the detail.

There is and there isn't debate on human diets. I can't give any overall proportion, but as a long time environmentalist I can say in the past it widely acknowledge that if we ate much less meat, it would free up agricultural land and let far more of it be rewilded.

This is a good question, which illustrates the parlous state of British democracy, where we don't know. However, what we do know for absolute certainty, is that Donald Trump announced that Andy Burnham would be opening up new gas and oil fields in the North Sea, well before Burnham said anything.

Odd this. Racist, far right violent thugs are treated as people with genuine concerns, but those peacefully protesting against genocide, and a lack of climate action are terrorists. To say this is extremely Orwellian, is understatement,

That the very rich are massively invested in this, and would lose most of their investments if fossil fuel burning was phased out. I suggest, that Burnham was ordered not to cap big political donations. THE BIG QUESTION, IS WHO HOLDS THIS POWER AND HOW DOES IT OPERATE? 4/4

I am not financially knowledgeable enough to know the reason for this. But it is quite likely that the main stock market value of fossil fuel companies, is in their reserves. i.e. that if fossil fuel burning was phased out, they'd become worthless. www.investopedia.com/ask/answers/... 3/4

There is a complete failure to understand how we are fundamentally reliant on natural ecosystems in a myriad number of ways, most cannot even imagine. Once we change that relationship, we cut off the branch on which humanity is perched. 7/7
