Wojtek Stawski @stawskiwojtek.bsky.social · 08/10/2026The paper is dedicated in memory of Dr Ludmiła Szterenberg - a legendary secondary school chemistry teacher and a porphyrin chemist who had a big influence on careers of many people that later became chemists, medical doctors and so many other scientific professions. I will always remember. 000
Wojtek Stawski @stawskiwojtek.bsky.social · 08/10/2026New preprint just dropped. The duo Yikun/Wojtek strikes again! We investigate multiply charged states of a conjugated porphyrin dimer, and discover that the unprecedented tetraanion has an open-shell character. As always, a great collab with @mpetrukhina.bsky.social chemrxiv.org/doi/full/10.... 111

Wojtek Stawski @stawskiwojtek.bsky.social · 29/09/2026A new video in my serious about crystal structure refinement just dropped: disorder of COT radical anion about symmetry element! I recently collected data for this sample and thought it's quite good for teaching purposes. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2C5S...youtube.comCrystal structure refinement 11. Wojtek Stawski @stawskiwojtek.bsky.social · 15/08/2026Thank you Synthware, especially your amazing customer expert Anna! Dispatched from Tianjin yesterday afternoon, in my hotel in Beijing next morning! Small souvenirs from China 🇨🇳 Super good price and quality! 100

Wojtek Stawski @stawskiwojtek.bsky.social · 16/07/2026We dedicate this work in memory of the late Prof. Erich Kleinpeter (1946−2025), a physical organic chemist widely known for his investigations into (anti)aromaticity effects in molecules, including dibenzo[a,e]pentalenes. @unipotsdam.bsky.social We never met in person, but exchanged emails. 000
Wojtek Stawski @stawskiwojtek.bsky.social · 16/07/2026I think it’s worth noting that the revision process at JACS Au was extremely fast and we received FOUR review reports in 13 days or something like that :D 000
Wojtek Stawski @stawskiwojtek.bsky.social · 16/07/2026Also, a big thank you to the handling editor and reviewers, Im not sure if it’s allowed to say who was the editor, but if you’re reading this, thank you so much for a very professional handling of the manuscript! 100
Wojtek Stawski @stawskiwojtek.bsky.social · 16/07/2026(3/3) It is only the second case of a coordination cage with walls containing antiaromatic motifs in the literature, right after the Nature paper with norcorrole cage from the Nitschke lab (2019). 110
Wojtek Stawski @stawskiwojtek.bsky.social · 16/07/2026(2/3) It feels very special -I used all my skills developed through the years: synthesis, XRD at synchrotron, comp. chem, academic writing. It is also the first time I published something with JACS Au and have a very positive experience.Especially after desk-rejection by @chemicalscience.rsc.org LOL 100

Wojtek Stawski @stawskiwojtek.bsky.social · 12/07/2026I feel like on every conference where someone from publishisher’s office is attending / sponsoring, there should be a short talk by them on how to be a reviewer (or author) and what to absolutely NOT do as a reviewer (author). That could reduce the number of poorly written reviews/give info about AI 010
Wojtek Stawski @stawskiwojtek.bsky.social · 01/07/2026Wiley, now RSC… @acs.org, I hope you’re not having any plans to change the website or paper design lol 130
Wojtek Stawski @stawskiwojtek.bsky.social · 01/07/2026I guess they decided to fight Wiley in a competition for the worst change in the graphical design. Now that they destroyed their websites, I am looking forward to see what crap they do to the graphical design of the paper pages… 020
Wojtek Stawski @stawskiwojtek.bsky.social · 01/07/2026What on Earth is happening to @rsc.org ? First, removing Diamond open access from @chemicalscience.rsc.org , now some stupid graphical changes to the websites that make it hard to see anything? Come on… 000
Wojtek Stawski @stawskiwojtek.bsky.social · 01/07/2026Exactly. Someone at @rsc.org started a series of REALLY STUPID decisions. This is going to kill the RSC publishing. Wake up @rsc.org! @chemicalscience.rsc.org @chemcomm.rsc.org Perhaps the Editors in Chief/Associate Editors could raise a voice… 021
Wojtek Stawski @stawskiwojtek.bsky.social · 21/06/2026It looks like most of the journals already updated them on the respective websites. 000
Wojtek Stawski @stawskiwojtek.bsky.social · 20/06/2026Well, I sincerely hope that their IF (and more importantly, people’s opinion) drops again after this. There is one positive though - I do not regret any more that my paper was recently desk-rejected by them 😄 100
Wojtek Stawski @stawskiwojtek.bsky.social · 20/06/2026… and making the change from Diamond OA to Gold OA at the point when the impact factor increased again, is such a poor management decision. This is definitely going to impact decisions of researchers to publish there. Simply sad. 100
Wojtek Stawski @stawskiwojtek.bsky.social · 20/06/2026Crazy.I really liked (and this seems to be a common view) ChemSci for being so open to everyone regardless of any finances. @chemicalscience.rsc.org really not a nice move. You have so much money from other new journals where you charge fees, you could have this ONE, FLAGSHIP journal free of charges 100
Wojtek Stawski @stawskiwojtek.bsky.social · 16/06/2026Yes, Aconcagua. Need to google the northern one though… 100
Wojtek Stawski @stawskiwojtek.bsky.social · 20/05/2026Tbh this paper was so bad that maybe they just rejected it without looking into that more than required and ignored my question lol 010
Wojtek Stawski @stawskiwojtek.bsky.social · 20/05/2026That was kind of what I thought about, but then a ChemRxiv is a paper as well, it has a DOI, yet you then publish it in a proper journal, maybe it’s the same with CSD Comm? Idk. That’s also why I flagged my question to the editor but never got the answer. 100
Wojtek Stawski @stawskiwojtek.bsky.social · 20/05/2026… I guess CSD communications could be perceived as preprint? :D @ccdc.cam.ac.uk what do you think about it? How does it work? 100
Wojtek Stawski @stawskiwojtek.bsky.social · 20/05/2026…. and I never got the info back from editor and the paper was never published so I still don’t know how it works, might be journal-specific? 100
Wojtek Stawski @stawskiwojtek.bsky.social · 20/05/2026I reviewed a paper recently where a central part of the manuscript was a structure from the same group published as CSD Communication 3ys ago. I reviewed it as normal, but I also commented on that and told the editor that it should be considered by him because I do not know how to treat it. 110
Wojtek Stawski @stawskiwojtek.bsky.social · 20/05/2026Actually, do you know how does it work with CSD communications? If someone for example published a nice structure there e.g. 2ys ago, and now submits a paper where this structure is very important. Is the structure treated as a new thing? CSD Communication has a DOI, so is kind of a paper? idk 200

Wojtek Stawski @stawskiwojtek.bsky.social · 26/03/2026That's how my 'crystal' looked like. Air-sensitive sample, esentially dead. But I found that some regions of that... THING have a proper colour, and I was able to center it on a fragment that gave nice diffraction with 84% indexation and solved very nicely!😂 @rigakuoxfordxrd.bsky.social 120
