I hate to xpost from Twitter, but @tinyclouds.org doesn't post here. Really looks like the motivation is a complete philosophical shift to celld/Workers. I'm skeptical, to say the least, but I guess this is kind of a blind spot for me. I'm a big fan of Cap'n Proto and I know Workers builds on it.
Screenshot of a post on Twitter by Ryan Dahl (@rough__sea), verified, with a cartoon tiger avatar. The post reads: i feel like people do not grok how important celld is. it's scalable applications of arbitrary complexity. the only dependency is s3. once you see it, you'll realize there's no point to traditional javascript runtimes in serving applications - only for build processes (eg bundling) and scripting. the networking and scaleability are deeply rooted not only in the distributed runtime (celld), but in the programming model itself (largely kenton's design). I wasn't quite sure when I started celld how well this could be made to work, but we've been running it in bigger capacities and getting user reports over the last months. Actually handles load surprisingly well. (any experience in the comments to share?) because the programming model does not expose the underlying linux system, you can actually think of celld as a distributed operating system - running in user space of linux. it only runs one program / doesn't support multi-tenant, but it has system services like an operating system. it's all about networking - i like to think of it as the practical modern version of plan9 or even erlang beam. I think one of the most valuable things that bsky can do for the atmosphere is leverage its position as the only app with a large audience and heavily promote "high quality" ATProto apps in-app. The live indicator and profile buttons are cool, but it's really limited and discovery is spontaneous.

RIP, not going to be able to pull before the event ends. This is one of the few characters that really interested me, side stepping the goonbait the characters are usually designed as. I've pretty much used all my free lucky tokens on her since the event began and I ain't got shit to show for it.
Screenshot from Riichi City showing the event list.

At the top is a button with a label. The button is indicating a "back" action with a left pointing open arrow. The text reads "gacha."

Below are the events.

One, on the bottom, is fully visible and the other is cut in half, indeterminate but colored whitish yellow with some pink, green, and gold sparkles with the silhouette of some female character.

The other, on the top, shows the character Saionji Rukia with the text "Blue Dreams" over her. There is a count down indicating the amount of time left in the event, currently reading 17h 51m.

I had a crisis of the heart in my last ranked match. Setup for suuankou, healthy chance of completing it, but the next guy dealt in immediately. I *really* wanted to ignore the ron and just go for it but I also didn't want to pass up a layup. If I let it go I *could've* gotten it... maybe...

Feeling a bit more confident seeing patterns and building towards more valuable hands. I started this match off with a solid hand that was already 1-shanten, but I realized with a bit of moxie and some risk I could make something beautiful. Very close to a counted yakuman, but I fell just short.
Riichi City's game spectator UI, showing a match. The point of view player has a hand showing red 5, 5, 6, 6, 7, and 7 pin as well as red 5, 6, 6, 7, 7, 8, and 8 sou. The player has drawn a white dragon as well. The player has also kita'd two North Winds.

The player is in tenpai, waiting for either 5 or 8 sou. Their hand is glowing with a flaming aura, indicating there is a chance of a yakuman.Riichi City results screen. The player (as dealer) finished the game with red 5, 5, 6, 6, 7, and 7 pin plus red 5, 5, 6, 6, 7, 7, 8, and 8 sou. They have called ron on a five sou to complete their hand.

The yaku list for this hand is as follows:

Riichi: 1 han
Tanyao: 1 han
Pinfu: 1 han
Ryanpeikou: 3 han
Dora: 2 han
Akadora: 2 han
Nukidora: 2 han

The value of the hand is 30 fu, 12 han for a total of 36000 points. The hand is sanbaiman.

A 3-player mahjong game (Star, East Only) in East 2, Turn 19. The player ("Me") sits at the bottom with a 13-tile hand: a pair of 4-sou and 5-sou (bamboo, with red fives), a triplet of East winds, a pair of North winds, a triplet of Green dragons, and a single Red dragon (marked R for the just-drawn tile). To the right, three White dragon tiles sit drawn aside as a called/discarded set. The hand is labeled "1-shanten" in the bottom-right replay panel, indicating it is one tile away from tenpai — the hand is built around collecting dragons (a Big Three Dragons / Daisangen attempt). Both opponents, Player1 (top right) and Player2 (top left), are marked "Tenpai." Scores show 34000, 48000, and 22000. The center display reads "East 2" with a wall count of 3 tiles remaining. Let's see how this looks
Same image as the start of the thread. Alt text once again:

"Two Bichon Frise dogs sleeping side by side on the end of a sectional's chaise lounge. The one on the left is completely on the couch surface, facing towards the left side of the image. the one on the right is hanging off of the edge, ever so slightly, facing towards the right side of the image. Both have their eyes tightly shut, but the Bichon on the right is extra cozy which obscures his face slightly. There is a bookcase providing an incidental backdrop for this slumbering scene, but the photographer didn't think to clean up his and his wife's books before the taking the opportunity to capture this moment. Now everyone knows this family overindexed on a few genres of books, have run out of room, and are too proud to admit their organizing system was ill thought out. It is very embarrassing for them, but we'll all laugh privately and tell the couple that they did a good job with the room they had. Wow this is a lot characters to type in order to hit the limit, I'll run out of ideas."

Two sleepy guys. Also, a cross-post test!
Two Bichon Frise dogs sleeping side by side on the end of a sectional's chaise lounge. The one on the left is completely on the couch surface, facing towards the left side of the image. the one on the right is hanging off of the edge, ever so slightly, facing towards the right side of the image. Both have their eyes tightly shut, but the Bichon on the right is extra cozy which obscures his face slightly. I completely disagree, it is quite literally often used to describe social media. Even a quick Google can give you the exact thing you say doesn't exist.
A Reddit thread from roughly eight months ago with three replies, names of users are censored.

First user:

"Social media like Instagram and tiktok is a bit of a torment nexus when you think about it."

Second user:

"This, If twitter was a actual place it would be tunnel where strangers slowly approach you and say the most insane shit and if you interact with them your suddenly surrounded by tens of people in a massive discourse war, everything about tiktok, twitter and Instragram is actively designed to make you insane for retention."

Third user:

"social media, especially dealing with parasocial issues, is pretty close to what Fahrenheit 451 was actually warning us about."

The link to your blog post on Sized seems to be broken.
So what can we do about it?

This situation is very analogous to the challenge of revisiting the default Sized bound, and I think the same basic approach that I outlined in [this blog post][sized] will work.

While I don't entirely agree with this assessment, it's in the ballpark. - AI is definitely a technological advancement, but the utility is often oversold - The real danger isn't the AI itself but the human evil it enables at scale - Regulation is necessary but ultimately will be ineffective
A results screen with text and an image. The text reads:

"Your AI-dentity is...

the Pro-Human Idealist"

The image is of a human male(?) with glasses and short, seemingly curly, red hair. They are wearing a white shirt that has the word "Man" above a horizontal line with the word "Machine" below it, the implication possibly reading as "Man over machine." They are also wearing blue pants and black boots. They are kneeling with one knee on the ground and are pointing at their head with one hand while raising the other directly in the air. They are smiling.

Text from a Claude Code terminal that says:

FOUND IT! The JSON -> MLF converter generates a fully qualified reference.

"FOUND IT" is written all uppercase, the JSON to MLF conversion line is written with a right arrow character, and the e in "reference" is partially cut off due to poor cropping.Text from a Claude Code terminal that says:

THERE IT IS! Kines 702-714

"THERE IT IS" is written all uppercase and there is some pixels from the line below this statement that werent' cropped out properly.
