I bring up this thought because I've just written up the worst 3 thousand words of absolute dogshit I've ever put to a page in my life and I am actively fighting every instinct of mine to clean it up (or obliterate it entirely) until I have the next two chapters also written out.

Usually my first drafts nail down as much as I can in one swoop save for the precise word choice and structural choices. It's easier to approach it that way if you're wrangling ~2k words maximum. That is DEFINITELY not the way to go for something that is ~4k a chapter.

The first half of my name syllabically is a plosive followed by a diphthong, but the back half is a voiced alveolar stop so it gets missed a lot so people accidentally shorten it lol Veeery convoluted explanation for "People think my name's just a single syllable bc I am bad at enunciating"

Also it means I get to write Aeternum as the deuteragonist that he is supposed to be! As cool as a potential POV from him is, being in his thoughts kinda dispels some of that unease/uncertainty he's supposed to make people feel He just feels better as a tricky, elusive personality foil.

I really like writing on subjects of isolation/connection, I've noticed. There's a lot to be explored in that space. Ascension already lends itself to my own mind-wanderings regarding existentialism, so... yeah, there's a coherent thread to be made there, maybe.

Something I've really been interested in thinking about recently is the tension between their super advanced technology and their clear reverence for natural form and biology. Many see inorganics as something lesser, without the "spark" of living things, consciousness of inorganics irrelevant.
