The Major Social Media Platforms Are All Rejecting Paid Ads for Alex Gibney’s ‘Musk’ (Exclusive)
YouTube, TikTok and Meta have all turned down the trailer for the Oct. 9 doc, citing “political” content. X won't even take Bleecker Street's calls. The distributor is appealing.

In this modern age, where so many of us have no children and have limited contacts with blood family, found family matters more and more. We have to know when to say, “it’s my turn to step up” and we need to know it’s ok to say, “I need help.” Take care of one another. Say, “Fuck cancer.” And

I’m entering a liminal space, where emails now include “please note, my time is not entirely my own, but I’ll get the work done”. I don’t know what this will look like, as I work from hospital rooms and chairs within ear shot or way view of my friend who is found family.

For the next 4-5 weeks I’ll be away and I have packed up everything for work and everything for me (and all the yarn for Christmas gifts I planned), then I’m in Japan for two weeks and Canada for a few days for talks and a long long planned vacation (others will step in), then back with friends.

Sometimes you get a phone call that has you buying airplane tickets before the call is over. I’ve gotten a few & this wasn’t the first this year. Thank God, it was an “I need help,” instead of “come say goodbye.” I still found myself saying, “you’re not allowed to die before I get there.”

I’m unexpectedly taking off on a long long journey. Part of me knew this was coming, but I thought it was coming later. Can I get a “Fuck Cancer?” (I’m as healthy as I normal.)

I'm obviously biased because I study Mimas (and Herschel specifically), but this little moon really is incredibly interesting and unique. There's a lot we can learn from its cratering record about whether it may actually be a "stealth" ocean world (one whose ocean seems missing at first glance).
Cassini's two highest-resolution views from its 13 February 2010 flyby of Mimas caught the southern half of the crater Herschel and an area to its east. This view is composed of two clear-filter images taken from the raw JPEG website. They were rotated to put north up and their levels adjusted to make the coloration fairly continuous. The interior of Herschel is covered in what appears to be post-formation modification. Credit: NASA / JPL-Caltech / SSI / mosaic by Emily LakdawallaAnother Cassini image, this one from farther away in 2005. Herschel lies on the terminator of Mimas in this image, keeping the entire crater floor in shadow with the exception of the central peak. The overall effect is mildly menacing.

I sub a variety of newsletters to try & keep up with space related science & aerospace news. Imma unsub from SkyTuned because they may be unverified AI. New Glenn is absolutely not launching today & I have no idea why they would say this. The story isn't at the top of their website skytuned.com
a screen capture of SkyTuned spae news comprehensive Daily News letter. It says: "Thursday, September 24, 2026 · Issue #90

🌌 Today's Lead
Blue Origin's New Glenn Returns to Flight Tonight — The Comeback Launch That Changes Everything
Blue Origin is targeting liftoff tonight from Launch Complex 36 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station for New Glenn's return-to-flight mission — the company's comeback after the launchpad explosion earlier in 2026 that set its program back months. The 322-foot rocket and its seven BE-4 engines will generate 3.85 million pounds of thrust at liftoff, making this one of 2026's most anticipated launches. A successful mission restores Blue Origin's heavy-lift credibility and its standing as a serious launch competitor — arriving just four days before SpaceX attempts Starship Flight 14's historic first orbital insertion on September 28. Tonight, all eyes are on the Cape."

Instead of advancing prev glasses, can we advance light weight glasses to replace my monitor cave? This would be a major step in universal design. Imagine waking (as I did) with serious neck pain & being able to recline all day with a bluetooth keyboard/mouse & full-size workspace.
