Every time that I start to think that DCC can't go any bigger and crazier, it surpasses my expections! I've finished up book 6 now, so getting more of the outside universe into things now. Looks like things are about to go down on floor 9.

Don't know how DCC made me feel sorry for a mutated talking goat creature, but here we are...

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

If our library is accurate with the number of copies it has, I should be able to get through book 8 without having to take a break. Which means I'll probably be through it in a less than a month! 😂

I'm up to Book 3 of Dungeon Crawler Carl, and I have to say that his experiences in this book are reminiscent of me riding the Metro in DC. That's what commuting does a person... (I say that as someone that actually enjoyed riding the Metro when I was commuting to work.)

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 18/09/2026

Huh, I enjoyed the first book of Dungeon Crawler Carl more than I thought I would. I guess binge reading is back on the menu, boys!

Read through the Vader 2015 comics. Makes me want to read through the Dr. Aphra ones next. This is where Hoopla kills my momentum.

010

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

I forgot that there is a silly limit on Hoopla for the number of items you can borrow per month. Sorry, but I need more than six graphic novels borrows per month, especially since I go through them in about a day! Gotta start balancing with some novel reading...

After last week, I'm going to try staying off of here during the game tomorrow to see if that helps. I think I'll keep the drinking though. #GoBlue

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 11/09/2026

Hmm... It might be time for me to dive into the High Republic Star Wars stories. Even if it does turn into a bit of a rabbit hole with its, what?, three phases? Should be fun, at least.

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

How didn't we pave this team for 200+ yards on the ground? This is where my disappointment is. No matter what Underwood is doing through the air, the ground game should be more than enough to make this game a comfortable victory. Shouldn't need to get bailed out by the refs. #GoBlue

000

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

Not sure what they defensive call was on that third down. They've been running the ball all day on anything under 7 yards to go, and you go with a light line? That was just asking for a run up the middle. #GoBlue

010

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

Yeah, I think I'm going to need more wine to get through this one. #GoBlue

Dominic Nichols is having himself a game at least. #GoBlue

Trey Pierce really blew that 4th down up! Great time for some great interior rush! #GoBlue

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

Really surprised that Marsh didn't bring in that punt. His hands are usually so secure. He did look up and see the coverage coming, but I'd still expect him to haul it in. #GoBlue

The wife picked out a cherry moscato for sipping during the game. Is this considered gap moe? 🤔

000

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

Okay, I can appreciate this Meat formation here on the goalline: 7 OL and 2 FB. Doesn't get more Michigan than that. #GoBlue

Okay, I like this Buchanan guy already! #GoBlue

Okay, this sounds like my kind of manga! Always appreciate your thoughtson these!

I'm back in the world of DanMachi (or Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?) after some five years or so. Was going through my Kindle books to convert in Calibre, and found I had most of the main series in my library. I've always liked the blend of comedy in a serious world.

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 03/09/2026

It must've brought a tear to your eye that you raised her so well!

030

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 03/09/2026

Wow, someone actually likes the highfiver? 😮 I run the balloons, the fan, and splatallites in a tactical tank. I love me some passive damage!

I don't remember reading but a few academic papers when getting my degree, and most of those were because I took an informatics class, which was a real grad school experience. It definitely gets easier!

120

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 30/08/2026

I know I read that paper when I got my MLIS, but I can't say that I remember anything about it. But the best advice I ever got about grad school was to not waste time wrestling with a paper you're reading because otherwise you'll just get overwhelmed.

220

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 30/08/2026

Is this the first academic paper you've ever read? Because that paper is a harsh introduction. I'd say don't sweat it though; take what you can from it and move on. Don't fret, it'll get much easier!

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 30/08/2026

Ugh, the numbers I'm seeing for this Ndiaye-Richarlison deal don't make sense in the slightest. Hopefully it looks better when the actual figures come out. I already don't care much for the deal, but I can at least rationalize selling Ndiaye for big money. This right now isn't that.

000

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 26/08/2026

Damn, man, Dolly was super cool. Why are all the good ones being taken from us? As a librarian, anyone that makes it easier for kids to read is cool by me, and Dolly was one of the patron saints of that.

000

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 19/08/2026

Now on to Kaguya-sama: Love is War. I never got to finish the last arc when it came out, so I'm going to rectify it during this re-read. The early volumes are peak romantic comedy.

000

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 17/08/2026

Make sure you check Hoopla too (if your library has that too). That one tends to have more comics as it. Some libraries only have Overdrive (Libby) or Hoopla, but you should really check out both if available!

000

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 16/08/2026

I'm not really into dramas really, so I think that's the part that kind of slows me down a bit. I like lighter stuff, but the occasional drama isn't too bad, but maybe I'm reading too many right now.

000

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 16/08/2026

I guess I really am on a shojo kick right now: I'm on to A Condition Called Love. I've got 13 volumes of it, so working my way through that. I'm trying to figure out how I feel about it. I like it because it's interesting to see an understandably broken character slowly grow into something better.

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 15/08/2026

So it seems that I need more bookshelves. In other news, the sky is blue.

000

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 13/08/2026

I think I only used the jump one, but I'm still having trouble with the spicy version because there are more of them up there and I'm not good with those gadgets. I've been in help instances where other people do it without having to actually go up, but I'm not sure how they did it.

000

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 12/08/2026

The one with pots and pans up on top? Yeah, that one is super hard. I'm trying to figure out how to the spicy version of it, but was able to do the regular version with the speed tank gadgets.

110

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 11/08/2026

I've now read most of Whisper Me a Love Song, and I think that one is more my speed for a drama. It's definitely lighter than Yuri Is My Job. Not to say that I didn't like the latter. I guess I'm on a bit of a shojo kick right now.

000

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 08/08/2026

Yeah, check the rules before you go. Some don't allow it if you don't live in that district, but a good number do. Very few that I've seen allow you to register online though. I think there's a NYC one that does though? I always forget which it is.

110

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 08/08/2026

Libby is wonderful! One thing you should do is get library cards at different library systems in order to increase your options. Not always the easiest thing due to travel and rules and such, but sometimes that thing you want isn't local. I did that for comic options.

120

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 08/08/2026

I started reading Yuri is My Job, and I'm trying to figure out how I feel about it. I'm not really one for unnecessary drama (although what did I really expect), but I do quite like the themes of the story. I guess I'll see how I feel the further I get into it.

000

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 01/08/2026

Going to the USL2 final tonight. Looks like I'm going to get wet before it clears up during the second half. 😭 Hopefully it's nothing too bad and we get to see some great soccer!

000

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 01/08/2026

I read Wotakoi again this week. Always a good decision.

One thing I can say (and it won't help you with this unfortunately) is that I'm glad that we got pet insurance for our cats. It's paid for itself by a lot between the four cats that we've had. But thank goodness for books, and especially libraries for having books we can read for free!

110

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 28/07/2026

Thanks! 💝 Wait, I don't even know what that emoji is! 🤷🏽‍♂️

000

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 28/07/2026

Hmm... it's my birthday today. I should try to do something today. Or pick out somewhere to eat out. But that's a lot of work.

220

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

Okay, Splatoon Raiders is a lot of fun. I mean, I kinda figured going in, but it's surprising how fun it is so far.

020

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 23/07/2026

Oh god, Splatoon Raiders tomorrow. How much am I going to hate myself for this? At least it's not PvP, which makes me rage like no other game for some reason.

000

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 21/07/2026

So, one of my cats has learned how to open doors, like a raptor from Jurassic Park. I don't know how to feel about this development. He's an orange tabby. He's not supposed to be this smart!

Starshadow @starshadowvt.bsky.social · 18/07/2026

The air quality here has finally dropped out of the Hazardous rating, so I've got that going for me. I also got a decent amount of reading in, and some story brainstorming as well, so it wasn't all bad.
