If Pete really wanted to be here he would be here right now. He's the one who opted out as well as the one who fired his previous agent and hired Scott Boras after the Mets offered him what was at the time a very fair 7/158 deal - almost the exact same AAV as the much-better 1B Matt Olson.

Not likely. He’s not making a higher AAV than $42M on the open market this off-season and with the impending work stoppage he’s best served opting in, staying put, and trying FA again next year after he hopefully has a better season than this one.

Well, I do give Stearns credit for giving Benge the nod for making the Opening Day roster and fast-tracking Ewing. But yeah, Polanco is a complete disaster. Semien similarly has been a complete disaster on defense (-6 OAA).

It sounds wrong because it felt like he was playing the field every day for how bad he was at the plate but Polanco actually only had 2 games played at 1B this year according to BBref (both in March). Agree re: Vientos though. Only 5 games in the field since 7/1.
