I was not at my home church yesterday but got to be part of the Blessing of the Animals at St. Bede's in Santa Fe. It was held in the middle of their labyrinth, which is in front of the church. Seemed like a decent turnout and I enjoyed it!

IIRC, the one time my rector added an on-the-spot renewal of baptismal vows to the liturgy, he told people what page to go to in the BCP, so it didn’t throw us off too much. Of course, that assumes you *had* BCPs available, which wasn’t the case here!

*Sometimes* we have hot food at our coffee hours (mainly in the form of breakfast sandwiches or 5th Sunday pancake breakfasts), but we also have plenty of potlucks and other events where hot food is served.

My late husband was a green card holder/asylee who was on Medicaid before we got married, and having this coverage literally saved his life. The so-called "pro-life" party just keeps showing that they believe that life begins at conception and ends at birth. Reprehensible!

Having previously lived in SF (21 years), this is indeed a common thing with San Franciscans. They do tend to have an overinflated view of "The City."

I think that would be true of *most* of the people on the apps, TBH.

I also have extemporaneous prayer before Morning Prayer and in the same places within MP. I also feel I can pray extemporaneously when needed outside of such services. That said, I do think some degree of structure IS good, though I also agree with your basic point.

Chicago is definitely on my short list for a visit sometime. My mom went there a number of years ago and was over the moon at being able to go to the Field Museum.

That would just take me back to my SBC days, or when I attended Church of Christ services with my grandparents as a child. My current church had multiple Sunday services years ago, but we are now growing to the point where we might have to have an additional Sunday Eucharist in the near future.

100%. The past few months I have been taking the Rail Runner train from Albuquerque whenever I go visit Santa Fe. It’s such a pleasurable way to make the trip!

I lived in San Francisco when he was a county supervisor then mayor of SF and can assure you that we do NOT want him as the Democratic nominee, much less as president!

I have heard similar at a TEC I have visited in Santa Fe. There they are saying "The Lord is with you" or "God is with you."

Now THAT is just silly. You’d rather go to a church that is homophobic and likely to be pushing “conversion therapy” on you? 🙄

We use EOW quite a bit at my parish and while some of it is not my preference, I generally don’t mind it. And Reddit folks? There are still quite a few churches that don’t use EOW at all - I can think of at least 4 in my city alone.

That’s a good one for sure, but my first soup of the season will be white bean and kale once we get to soup season here in New Mexico.
