On the other hand, Rob and Luis agreed to take my unit in for testing after I pressed them with frequency response measurements from my test files. Since I decided not to follow through and sold the unit instead, I can't definitively say that all BB-777s have these sound issues.

I’m on the fence about reviewing the Bumpboxx BB-777. Seeing all the hype in Facebook groups—where mods actually blocked my posts just for asking about sound quality—makes me want to speak up, and loudly.

Swapped the Bumpboxx BB-777 for a classic SONY CMT-CP300 in my bedroom. It sounds exactly like I hoped the BB would. With a dual cassette deck, 3-CD changer, tuner, and real wood speakers, it’s the perfect bedroom setup.

Sold. An overpriced Chinese knockoff pretending to be the original Sharp GF-777, but it has nothing in common with it. I'm going to get myself something real, from back when engineers actually cared about sound quality.

The assembly quality proved reasonably solid. Regarding sound, Dolby has clearly withheld licensing for its time-based audio cassette technology for quite a while. The impression will need time to settle.

And nothing is lost by hiding instead of deleting. If an author appeals and Bluesky lifts the label, the post returns to the feed on its own, back in its original place, as if it had never left. No action needed from me or from the author.
010
Yuri Stanislavski @stanislavski.me · 16/09/2026
How: when authors label their own post, the label is part of the post, so a feed sees it on arrival. Bluesky's moderators add theirs later and separately, and it never reaches feeds with the post. So my feeds now follow the moderators' labels on their own and hide what they flag, not delete it.

Yuri Stanislavski @stanislavski.me · 16/09/2026
⚠️ New in the moderation of my custom feeds: posts that Bluesky's moderation service labels as adult are now hidden too, not only those their authors label themselves. Each feed picks its own labels. Vinyl Community keeps it off for now: there, the labeler mostly flags album covers.👇 #nocrosspost

Three records came with me out of Romania — bought there after I left Ukraine because of the war, before Canada was even a plan. This is one of them: The Lemon Twigs, Everything Harmony. Some things you carry across borders because you need them, not because they're useful.
An album sleeve on a white wall above a black turntable. The sleeve is The Lemon Twigs' Everything Harmony: a brick apartment building with fire escapes, the title in red serif letters arched across the top of the facade, two long-haired musicians standing on a fire escape at the right, the band name in black at the bottom. Below, on a light wood surface, a record spins under the closed dust cover, a silver weight on the spindle and an orange cartridge on the tonearm.

110
Yuri Stanislavski @stanislavski.me · 09/09/2026

101
Yuri Stanislavski @stanislavski.me · 09/09/2026
101
Yuri Stanislavski @stanislavski.me · 09/09/2026

Yuri Stanislavski @stanislavski.me · 09/09/2026
Record Store Day.

I don’t know how you ended up with that. My Bell home internet is $82/month for the Fibe 3.0 package (3 Gbps up/down). I guess you have to know how to negotiate. Of course, I'd prefer to just pay, say, $40/month for 1 Gbps, but we have what we have.

A day off that lands on a Monday asks for something very beautiful. Destroyer's Kaputt, side one, no plans.
A hand holds the sleeve of Destroyer’s “Kaputt” in a protective outer bag: a grainy black-and-white photograph taken at a lookout, where four people dressed in white stand at a stone parapet above a city with mountains behind it, a fifth sits on the parapet, and three empty benches fill the foreground. Behind, in the room, a turntable with the blue record and a floorstanding speaker.Overhead view of a blue marbled record spinning on a turntable: light grey label with the handwritten Destroyer logo and “Side One”, with the tonearm, black headshell and yellow cartridge entering the frame on the right.Round holographic hype sticker on the shrinkwrap: TURNTABLE LAB repeated around the rim; in the centre “2021”, “EDITION of 500”, large “EXCLUSIVO”, and below the numbers 673855036939 and MRG369-TTL.

⚠️ Small tune-up to the Vinyl Community feed: character moodboards and OC art kept slipping in whenever a record was just one tile in the collage. Now filtered by genre — moodboard, gpose, photo mode — not by fandom. Game-soundtrack vinyl is still very welcome. 🎧 #nocrosspost

CA$39.95 for a sealed copy. On Discogs the same Royal Grape 2xLP runs CA$200–300 shipped to Canada. Neal Francis, Francis Comes Alive: recorded live to tape at Thalia Hall, eleven people on stage. Opened it, put it straight on the turntable.

Finally got my copy of Family Worship Center’s “Only Visiting”. Been waiting for this one!
A hand holds a brown cardboard record mailer, printed “Mighty Music Mailer — hassle free mailer for 1–2 LP records, Bags Unlimited, MLP1.” The flap is sealed with black packing tape branded CorpoRat Industries, CorpoRat Printshop and CorpoRat Records, with cartoon rat logos and the slogans “This unholy trinity is your creative salvation” and “Deviants, derelicts and degenerates rejoice!” The framed Stevie Nicks poster is on the wall behind.A hand holds up the “Family Worship Center — Only Visiting” LP sleeve. The cover art shows a stone archway cut out as an arched window, revealing a blue sky with eyes and a green tree on a checkerboard floor; two planets ringed with piano keys float on either side, a smiling glass pitcher drifts at lower left, and the title runs along an orange band at the bottom. A framed black-and-white Stevie Nicks poster hangs on the wall behind.A black Sony turntable on a light wood table, dust cover raised, playing a translucent blue-green marbled LP with a yellow stylus tracking the outer grooves. Propped against the white wall behind it is the album sleeve: “Family Worship Center — Only Visiting,” showing a stone archway framing a blue sky with a pair of eyes, a green tree standing on a black-and-white checkerboard floor, ringed planets made of piano keys, and a smiling glass pitcher against a starfield.

The original soundtrack to the film A Chorus Line sounds fantastic. While it’s silly to try to capture sound on an iPhone microphone, trust me, this is one of the best-recorded records in my vinyl collection.

I just discovered that while programming Vinyl Community Feed, I somehow overlooked the concept of a “gallery.” Because of that unfortunate oversight, posts with more than one photo weren’t making it into the feed. Fixed now. Justice has been restored. Welcome to the community!

That’s pretty much how it works. The automatic cleanup runs every five minutes, so there may be a short window when spam or unwanted content is visible on your screens, but it will still disappear fairly quickly.

One of my all-time favourite records: Piotr Figiel — Music (Poland, 1976, Pronit – SX 1320). If I don't know what I'd like to put on the turntable, I choose this one. The best soundtrack for the solitude of a day off that falls on a Tuesday.

Slightly tighten the filters - and some of the «vinyl» posts do not get into the feed, people start complaining. Slightly loosen them - and trains and porn accounts enter the feed. Yesterday I expanded the process of collecting, so some garbage will break through until I balance the filtering.
