Yeah I call that Dad mode, doable also without a Tesla. bsky.app/profile/stal...

You just need to eloquently express what is "good code". If you don't know how to express what good code is, figuring out the words is your job.

To those people who fear AI on autopilot will write worse code: It *can* write code better than you ever could dream of, in readability, organization. You just have to identify the principles to refactor your code, and now you can afford refactoring the entire codebase, eliminating all tech debt.

What is Dad Mode? It's just Grok (mobile app) Voice mode with MCPs and Connectors like GitHub, Cursor, Email, Telegram, whatnot. Claude Voice is also pretty good but there is no GitHub connector. ChatGPT voice refuses to use plugins or MCPs.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is DAD MODE. 🚖 Ship stuff with your voice from the car, the playground, in the grocery store.

A bit (thinking of Astra). But the competition is fierce, which drives prices down, and I could live with Grok 4.6 if suddenly all other models disappeared.

I upset some people with this article. They think I'm being reckless or something. With all respect, their opinion of AI code is outdated by a year or more. Things have changed a lot.

You can use AI to review pull requests. The trivial pull requests can be auto-reviewed with low risk, and auto-merged. The medium and high risk need a human review, and I start it by asking an agent a list of decisions or judgement calls made in the PR. I zoom in only when needed.

If you're still coding without AI, tell me you're at least not browsing a bunch of random low quality blogs riddled with weird cookie banners, desperately hunting for a little fix to a little annoying problem, right? Right??

I understand Jevons paradox, but fossil fuel is already on its way out so it's not the case here. The problem with traditional/naive climate solutions is that we need to not only stop using fossil fuels, we also need to remove CO² from the atmosphere, to reduce greenhouse warming.

It is easier to regulate limits on growth (space geoengineering) than it is to regulate simultaneous government initiatives (fossil fuel degrowth).

André Staltz @staltz.com · 30/08/2026
It is still a complex technological and geopolitical problem. But this approach (drive by growth) is far more likely to work than degrowth is. There are economic incentives to harness solar power in space, and regulation can keep the satellite swarm from going beyond the limits.

The alternative solutions that remained were few, geoengineering and space mining being one of them. I know most of you in Bluesky hate Elon, but he is absolutely correct that a smart mesh of Dyson sphere satellites at lagrange point is the solution to global warming.

Country A will not suddenly give up on fossil fuels unless country B does the same simultaneously, otherwise they give up global hegemony. Coordinating cross-cultural decisions with your competitor is not going to happen.

In 2019 I gave climate activism a real shot, joined Extinction Rebellion, glued myself to buildings, gave speeches at Helsinki's main library on climate science and crisis, marched on the streets. I quit all of that when I realized the climate crisis is a geopolitical deadlock.

I mean, that was Bun, which is significantly simpler than a browser. So maybe a Chrome-like would cost like half a million or more. You gotta have a real good reason for making a modern browser. I can't see a good reason...

I think it's just a matter of money. That project would eat a lot of tokens and spend a lot of time (IDK, a month?). To spend that much money, you really need a profitable reason behind all that cost. The Bun port to Rust took 11 days and would have cost $165k.

The ratio of git conflict babysitting per actual development is a code architecture smell and (via Conway's law) an org chart smell.

"How great is the goodness you have stored up for those who fear you" psalm 31:19 Fearing God means experiencing his goodness. You should only be "afraid" of God if you don't fear Him.

Maintaining critical software now comes with a security burden that has outgrown what any volunteer can reasonably carry. That's why we're upgrading our open source program from the Team plan to the Business plan, full protection for maintainers at no cost. socket.dev/blog/free-bu...

My mom, who studied interior design in her 50s and learned how to use SketchUp to draw in 3D, is finally having the time of her life making a lot of her ideas come to life, for herself and for clients.

Friends of mine in all kinds of careers (legal, interior design, artists, developers, business) are either (1) sad and gloomy about losing their craft to AI, or (2) having a lot of fun doing more with less, with AI. It's all a matter of perspective and motivation.

Jesus offers true freedom. It's a feeling that cannot be taken away, unlike the freedom to fulfill desires which is contingent on your ability and possibility to pursue those desires. The sweet presence of the Holy Spirit is freedom that cannot be taken away by anyone or anything external. 🤍

Looking at some C++ code I wrote in 2008, all by hand, formatted manually, without vim. It's mind blowing I had the patience for all this. Comments everywhere. What was wrong with me, this code is impeccable.

DM me to get 50% off first month on Cursor.com This is an "ad" and I earn credits, but I also legit think that Cursor is a great way of writing code nowadays. Pay special attention to its cloud/web features ✨

Adding collaboration. Like git pull requests, but for spreadsheets
A screen showing two spreadsheets side by side. They are identical except for minor changes in one which are reflected in the other as a "proposal" which can be accepted, rejected, or commented on

Well, it dies at 5M, and still works at 2M, so I guess this is currently on par (or better) than Excel. Also Google Sheets has a theoretical limit of 10M but in practice things crash before that.
