Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 4hThank goodness Rent is opening tonight. I've been so annoyed that it's been closed up until now. 000
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Everybody trying to tell us it's the Opening Night of Into The Woods tonight. Is it though? Really? Or is it just another Press Night for the exact same show that was at another theatre only about three miles away earlier this year? Sometimes the London theatre scene really does seem a bit weird! 100
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Back to the Cheese and Grain in Frome, please. Unless your GWR debacle last year has put you off for life!? The Egg Theatre in Bath is perfect for family-friendly shows. 110
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 05/10/2026Funny how these people say that they never do either of these things. We do and we love doing them. If you saw The Unlikely Pilgrimage Of Harold Fry multiple times and then experienced the gorgeous atmosphere at Stage Door after each performance you would know how special these experiences can be. 000
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 05/10/2026The people (including one reasonably high-profile so-called 'content creator') who chose to generally scattergun a) all those people who love the opportunity to meet their heroes at Stage Door and b) all those people who enjoy seeing the same show multiple times really need to grow up. 110
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Three of my fave people. I couldn't imagine a better line-up for a panel. Unfortunately, I'll be at Jane Eyre that day. Or will I? Based on my last visit to Southwark Playhouse Elephant, I'll have you ready as my back-up plan! 010
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 01/10/2026To be honest, I was hoping for Alice in Bristol because I'm such a huge fan. But Louise Dearman will more than do nicely! 000
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Literally the absolute best performance I've seen in 2026 was Jodie in Prima Facie at Theatre Royal Bath. Totally outstanding. 000
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Ok, so I missed out on tickets which is a shame. But I can't help but think how brilliant it is that yet again we have sent a message to Rachel to let her know how much she is loved over here. Great work, everyone! 000
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Moving forwards, my theatre visits will be even more frequently to Theatre Royal Bath, Bristol Hippodrome and Off-West End venues where you get great seats for way less than £100. 000
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Interesting to see the prices for Charlie And The Chocolate Factory at London Coliseum. Yes, as I assumed, they're ridiculous. 1) I'm not travelling all the way to London for a rubbish seat. 2) I'm not paying over £100 for a ticket. 3) I'm therefore making fewer trips to the West End each year now. 100
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 29/09/2026I thought it would be fun (also for nostalgia reasons) to pop back briefly to remind myself why I don't engage on that platform anymore. And possibly my biggest surprise was seeing how Mickey-Jo Theatre (who had also previously left Twitter) has suddenly become very active on there again recently. 000
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Interesting to hear Richard Osman (as someone like me who no longer uses Twitter) talking on his podcast today about popping back on there for nostalgia reasons to see what all those lovely people still on that platform are saying about Strictly. And no surprise that it was all negative and angry. 101
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 29/09/2026So glad I booked to see this again in January now that the new cast has been announced. Sonny Monaghan and Linzi Hateley are two of the nicest people I have chatted with at Stage Door. 000
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 29/09/2026You know those people who had that mad scramble for tickets last week to see that 90s band who have been desperate to become relevant again? Well, good luck to those of us who will be involved in the even bigger than that mad scramble tomorrow to see this more than relevant current superstar! 100
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Told you I had the exclusive! It's not often I beat WhatsOnStage (and the other go-to places for our theatre content) to the breaking news. But then it's not often I talk to Jordan Luke Gage and he tells me some exciting news the day before he makes an exciting announcement. 000
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 27/09/20265) Before the show started, a couple behind me were talking about the film version and discussing its plot in detail and how the story ends. Fortunately, I was aware of what happens in Thelma & Louise but I would've been livid if I hadn't been so let's maybe not do that! 000
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 27/09/20263) After the interval, I returned to find somebody else in my seat who was adamant that it was their seat. Bizarre! I've never had that before! 4) To let you know that Act Two is about to begin, a member of staff walks around ringing a school bell and shouting 'Five minutes!' like a town crier. 100
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Other Things From My Visit To The Young Vic Yesterday: 1) It's quite hard to find your seat because the seat numbers are absolutely tiny. 2) It's bench seating but they're quite comfy as there is a nice protruding part which supports your lower back. 100
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Theatre Review 84 Thelma & Louise ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Young Vic, London Saturday 26th September 2026 100
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Theatre Show 84 Show: Thelma & Louise Theatre: Young Vic, London Review* to follow. *Well, the usual sideways glance nonsense style of review that I produce. You know where to go to find the professionals' thoughts. Although their reviews didn't contain a Redcliffe exclusive, did they? Just saying! 000
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Aw, no! That's so disappointing to hear. Thanks so much for the inside info though, Alun. Really appreciate you sharing this news. 000
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 24/09/2026youtu.be/mc5lDcalTvo?... My first introduction to Emma's brilliance was back in 2019 seeing her in Once at Theatre Royal Bath. Falling Slowly has been my favourite musical theatre song since seeing David Hunter and Jill Winternitz perform it in Once at the Phoenix Theatre in London in 2014.youtu.beOnce preview - Falling Slowly featuring Daniel Healey and Emma LuciaYouTube video by Belgrade Theatre 100
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Just when I didn't think I could possibly love the wonderful Emma Lucia more than I already do! I've just seen the interview she gave where she responds so brilliantly to the reactions received from some audience members who've hoped to see Carrie instead. It just shows what a lovely person she is. 100
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 24/09/2026Operation Mincemeat is coming back to Bath for another extended two-week tour stop. Priority booking is open and I've secured tickets for both Saturday matinees so far. It will be really interesting to see if it's the current UK tour cast who will be going round the country for a second year. 000
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 23/09/2026So so jealous. Maybe Happy Ending remains in its resolutely fixed position cemented at the very top of my list of shows I really want to see. What are you hearing, Alun? Any chance of it one day coming to the West End, d'ya reckon? After its Tony success, I thought it might have reached us by now. 110
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 22/09/2026I always said that I could never ever imagine Jamie Lloyd being happy with that ridiculous stunt carried out by Bella Brown at the final Evita matinee. I don't think he would have signed off on her changing the storyline! Just to be fair though Kirsty Anne Shaw was equally involved in this incident. 000
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 22/09/2026That's the final matinee guaranteed to be spoilt then. 000
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 21/09/2026The sound quality of this podcast certainly made it a challenge to stick with it though. Such a shame. 000
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 21/09/2026It was so brilliant to hear the cast on the MickeyJo Theatre Jane Eyre Q&A talking around the subject of 'Muck Up Matinees' and saying how important it is to respect the audience, to give them what they've paid for and to honour that one person who is maybe seeing it for the first time. 100
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Seeing videos of The Devil Wears Prada cast doing a 'Muck Up Matinee' yesterday for Vanessa Williams's last day is so disappointing and so cringey. You know I'm not a fan after Bella Brown spoilt the last Evita matinee. Respect the audiences please. The tickets we buy are ridiculously expensive. 011
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 17/09/2026Oooooooh, this is exciting casting! I've already booked to see The King's Speech at Theatre Royal Bath next year. 000
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 16/09/2026The Two Strangers news is really sad. I'd thought that New York had taken it to their hearts and it would run for much longer. Jim and Kit know what to do though - bring it home for a UK tour! People around the country would love it! I'm thrilled for Sam having such a successful time on Broadway! 000
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 14/09/2026I'm really enjoying listening to the 13 Going On 30 cast recording but, oh my goodness, let's hope Pasek and Paul don't ever listen to That Moment In Time. Anybody else picturing Samantha Barks walking along planks of wood held up in the air while listening to this song? 000
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 14/09/2026And there I was thinking that 2027 would be a year off from seeing this show! Not now! I saw it six times at Theatre Royal Bath this year so I will at least be matching that number! Amazing news! 000
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 14/09/2026I guess this isn't that surprising and we've all been wondering whether they would now pull the plug. Maybe the initial announcement was way too early and lessons can be learnt. It would still have been a wonderful show with other deserving West End talent in these roles instead but there you go. 000
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 12/09/2026Theatre Review 83 Mean Girls ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Bristol Hippodrome Saturday 12th September 2026 000
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 12/09/2026Theatre Show 83 Show: Mean Girls Theatre: Bristol Hippodrome Review to follow. 000
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 12/09/2026Meeting to decide how to mark the wonderful occasion of recording 200 podcast episodes: "Maybe we could celebrate it by talking to some West End stars who have recently completed 200 performances in their show." "No, let's celebrate it by just doing part two of what we started in the 199th episode." 001
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 10/09/2026Oh dear. Two things... 1) No offence but the reviews the Jane Eyre team are using to promote their show are by people Ive never heard of. 2) I googled this one and it turns out that it's actually Jolien not Joline. By the way, it was ⭐️⭐️ from Musical Theatre Review. 000
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 09/09/2026I think they might be in trouble. Just 68 tickets currently sold for tomorrow evening's performance and pretty much every critic giving it ⭐️⭐️⭐️ so it therefore hasn't received the boost they would've been hoping for. 100
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 09/09/2026Sorry, what, pardon? Absolute first rate taking the p*ss here! Too soon, Jane Eyre. Too soon. Reader, I trolled him! 100
Stage Door Chris @stagedoor.bsky.social · 08/09/2026The critics are turning up for the Press Night of Jane Eyre tonight but I am still not impressed with this production following the shambolic amateurism on display on Saturday. Nice to know the company managed to find the energy and motivation to perform for Hugh Jackman though yesterday! Hmm! 🙄 000
