To be honest, I was hoping for Alice in Bristol because I'm such a huge fan. But Louise Dearman will more than do nicely!

Literally the absolute best performance I've seen in 2026 was Jodie in Prima Facie at Theatre Royal Bath. Totally outstanding.

Interesting to see the prices for Charlie And The Chocolate Factory at London Coliseum. Yes, as I assumed, they're ridiculous. 1) I'm not travelling all the way to London for a rubbish seat. 2) I'm not paying over £100 for a ticket. 3) I'm therefore making fewer trips to the West End each year now.

Interesting to hear Richard Osman (as someone like me who no longer uses Twitter) talking on his podcast today about popping back on there for nostalgia reasons to see what all those lovely people still on that platform are saying about Strictly. And no surprise that it was all negative and angry.

So glad I booked to see this again in January now that the new cast has been announced. Sonny Monaghan and Linzi Hateley are two of the nicest people I have chatted with at Stage Door.

You know those people who had that mad scramble for tickets last week to see that 90s band who have been desperate to become relevant again? Well, good luck to those of us who will be involved in the even bigger than that mad scramble tomorrow to see this more than relevant current superstar!

Told you I had the exclusive! It's not often I beat WhatsOnStage (and the other go-to places for our theatre content) to the breaking news. But then it's not often I talk to Jordan Luke Gage and he tells me some exciting news the day before he makes an exciting announcement.

Other Things From My Visit To The Young Vic Yesterday: 1) It's quite hard to find your seat because the seat numbers are absolutely tiny. 2) It's bench seating but they're quite comfy as there is a nice protruding part which supports your lower back.

Theatre Show 84 Show: Thelma & Louise Theatre: Young Vic, London Review* to follow. *Well, the usual sideways glance nonsense style of review that I produce. You know where to go to find the professionals' thoughts. Although their reviews didn't contain a Redcliffe exclusive, did they? Just saying!

Just when I didn't think I could possibly love the wonderful Emma Lucia more than I already do! I've just seen the interview she gave where she responds so brilliantly to the reactions received from some audience members who've hoped to see Carrie instead. It just shows what a lovely person she is.

Operation Mincemeat is coming back to Bath for another extended two-week tour stop. Priority booking is open and I've secured tickets for both Saturday matinees so far. It will be really interesting to see if it's the current UK tour cast who will be going round the country for a second year.

I always said that I could never ever imagine Jamie Lloyd being happy with that ridiculous stunt carried out by Bella Brown at the final Evita matinee. I don't think he would have signed off on her changing the storyline! Just to be fair though Kirsty Anne Shaw was equally involved in this incident.

It was so brilliant to hear the cast on the MickeyJo Theatre Jane Eyre Q&A talking around the subject of 'Muck Up Matinees' and saying how important it is to respect the audience, to give them what they've paid for and to honour that one person who is maybe seeing it for the first time.

Seeing videos of The Devil Wears Prada cast doing a 'Muck Up Matinee' yesterday for Vanessa Williams's last day is so disappointing and so cringey. You know I'm not a fan after Bella Brown spoilt the last Evita matinee. Respect the audiences please. The tickets we buy are ridiculously expensive.

The Two Strangers news is really sad. I'd thought that New York had taken it to their hearts and it would run for much longer. Jim and Kit know what to do though - bring it home for a UK tour! People around the country would love it! I'm thrilled for Sam having such a successful time on Broadway!

I'm really enjoying listening to the 13 Going On 30 cast recording but, oh my goodness, let's hope Pasek and Paul don't ever listen to That Moment In Time. Anybody else picturing Samantha Barks walking along planks of wood held up in the air while listening to this song?

And there I was thinking that 2027 would be a year off from seeing this show! Not now! I saw it six times at Theatre Royal Bath this year so I will at least be matching that number! Amazing news!

I guess this isn't that surprising and we've all been wondering whether they would now pull the plug. Maybe the initial announcement was way too early and lessons can be learnt. It would still have been a wonderful show with other deserving West End talent in these roles instead but there you go.

Meeting to decide how to mark the wonderful occasion of recording 200 podcast episodes: "Maybe we could celebrate it by talking to some West End stars who have recently completed 200 performances in their show." "No, let's celebrate it by just doing part two of what we started in the 199th episode."

The critics are turning up for the Press Night of Jane Eyre tonight but I am still not impressed with this production following the shambolic amateurism on display on Saturday. Nice to know the company managed to find the energy and motivation to perform for Hugh Jackman though yesterday! Hmm! 🙄

WEST END WILMA AWARDS 2026 You can register your votes online at their website now. I'm starting a campaign here for Redcliffe. It is sadly only nominated in this one category. Let's all get behind this wonderful show which has been created so beautifully by Jordan Luke Gage.

I thought that I was going to see Jane Eyre: A New Musical this week. However, I am in fact going to see Jane Eyre: A Musical which is actually NOT a NEW musical at all. It is an old show which was first performed on Broadway in 2000 and was then nominated for Best Musical at the 2001 Tony Awards.

My thoughts on Sunday In The Park With George are that I was probably the only person who would've arrived at the Barbican hoping to see cover performers instead of Ariana and Jonathan anyway. That is if a) I was able to get a ticket and b) I was going to pay what would inevitably be stupid prices.

Tickets for Pride at Bridge Theatre went on sale today. If you're making the effort to travel all the way to London and want a good seat at a reasonable price, my advice is to wait until later in its run when ticket prices are much cheaper. I've managed to book a Row A seat for £41.50 in April 2027.

This full album version of Evita is just everything. It's certainly not helping to make me miss it any less though. Oh for another Evita Summer, the most perfect theatre season. At least this incredible show has now been immortalised and we can be wowed by Rachel, Diego and everybody else forever.

The wall of signed programmes is now full so I might actually start taking a break from Stage Dooring. Has it got a bit too cringey? I feel from posts on social media that performers are finding it more tiresome, certainly in light of growing incidents of problem behaviour from audience members.

I found my Once programme from when I saw it at Theatre Royal Bath in 2020 and sent it to Emma Lucia, who played Girl in that production, after seeing her in Waitress at Bristol Hippodrome recently. I thought she might sign it and send it back. I certainly wasn't expecting such a lovely card too!

As a big fan of musicals, I always take an interest in the band/orchestra. Sometimes I might drop the Musical Director a message to say how much I enjoyed the music. Sometimes I might get a lovely reply.

Very honoured to have my review featured here and absolutely thrilled that CADEL: Lungs on Legs has been so popular and so loved. An incredible amount of work has gone into developing this show and an incredible amount of physical effort to actually perform it. You deserve every success, Connor.

Wow! I mean, fair enough, I do always really enjoy hearing other people's opinions, especially if they're different from mine, but I am kind of astonished that The Singer, my absolute standout favourite musical of Edinburgh 2026, hasn't made it onto their shortlist.

How do you give a star rating to an Edinburgh show? I have found this really difficult because you're essentially using the same scale that you would use for a West End show. It's almost like Fringe shows need a separate scoring system. I needed time to process my thoughts. Here are my verdicts...
