I am awed to learn that this marvel of home decor has been right around the corner from me for years. Probably decades. (for the curious: www.realtor.ca/real-estate/... )
A living room with two orange couches with a bolder orange-and-black floral print, red carpet, orange curtains and lavender wallpaper with a repeating gold vine pattern. A large Asian-style fan is above one couch. The effect is eye-sheering.A room that opens onto a hallway on the left and a set of stairs on the right. The floor is covered in red carpet. The walls are papered with pink wallpaper that has a gold vine pattern, like the first room. The stairs have dark wood paneling that goes up half the wall. There's a cuckoo clock on the wall and a round mirror on the stairs to reflect back the glory of the room you are departing. The upstairs hallway, with stairs leading down on the left and three open doors on the center to right. Each open door reveals a new wallpaper horror. The hall is covered with ivory wallpaper that has a dizzying geometric pattern in gold. The doors are a mid-toned wood. There is another Asian fan decorating the wall.

It is a nightmare made drywall. An unfinished murder basement, with bare stone walls and a dirt floor. You could bury so many bodies down here.

Dungeon Keeper! I played it obsessively while recovering from a combination root canal & wisdom teeth removal procedure, so I was high on painkillers and imprinted deeply on the satisfaction of smacking chickens to make them explode.

I think it's pretty fun that this statement is so bizarre that my phone wants to translate it for me.

The shoulder piece is from Gelareh, a brand I hadn't heard of before, but it's very well made. It also goes for $950 USD on their website, which is waaaay more than I paid for it :) gelarehdesigns.com/collections/...

The sneakers fit shockingly well (I have wide feet and they are surprisingly adjustable on that axis) and are new-with-tag. That means they weren't use on the show (boo) but it also means I got a fantastic bargain (yay)!
A closer view of the high-top sneakers. They have a bright pink brand tag for Demobaza still attached and the most complicated lacing system I have ever encountered on a pair of sneakers. Luckily, they also have size zippers.

I successfully resisted the temptation of the local Star Trek production auctions until the VERY last one, which included a bunch of pieces from a dystopian / avant-garde designer that were actually in my size, remarkably enough!

Interesting things happening around Toronto bike lanes lately.
A bike lane sign with a weird Halloween mask with bookish glasses perched on its edge. In the background is Bloor Street, busy with cars going in the wrong direction in their own lanes and the posts protecting the dedicated bike lanes that Doug Ford is planning to remove.

It's genuinely baffling how Hilroy managed this, given that it's the same map graphic they've been using for years!

After Dark sparked my love of indie & art house cinema. It's where I first discovered Videodrome, Forbidden Zone, Bad Taste, Polyester and so many other fantastic films, plus an obnoxious amount of horror and some truly terrible pr0n (Edward Penishands still haunts my nightmares).

It's fascinating to me that this is legally restricted to sale in a handful of countries (not that it will prevent collectors elsewhere from using a proxy to get one). North and South America are both excluded!

The list of where it can be purchased is fascinating - North America is excluded, but not Europe? I wonder if that's related to likeness legal protections in various places...

This seagull might have been the most entertaining thing on the entire trip to me, because I am a sucker for cute but very dumb critters. I kept tossing them fries and they kept not noticing the food while continuing to beg for more.
The seagull is not impressed by me showing off a pint of Guinness which they cannot share in. In the background are some older warehouse roofs. The seagull has a very sweet begging face at they peer through the window, hoping to earn another French fry.The seagull scratching their neck and ignoring the bit if French fry right beside them. Their beak is stuck into their feathers and their neck is weirdly elongated, like a miniature ostrich. They will never notice the fry.

Both Penguin Random House and our booth sold out of Dungeons & Dragons Crochet before the end of the first day of GenCon. I am blown away by the support and we are trying to find out if we can rush ship more copies to the show (fingers crossed 🤞).

Please enjoy my friend's dog looking like a model for a luxury watch brand.
A very posh looking Chihuahua wearing a harness leash sits on a wooden park bench. His ears are perked, his fur is flawless, and he's looking off to the side with a studied insouciance worthy of a 90s-era supermodel.

I can't lie, this quote from a Gen Z-er thinking that Millennials used to get party invites in the mail is making me cackle. Even Gen X only uses mailed party invites for weddings.
Article quote: “As a millennial, when you got an invitation in the mail, you never knew how many people were going to be there, and you didn't know who was going to be there,” Strobel says. “Peeking in the windows to a party isn't helping etiquette in 2026.”

For sale: Yoda doll, definitely haunted. maxsold.com/listing/8087...
A probably-haunted doll that claims to be Yoda from Star Wars but looks like a cranky old man with pointed ears and a white bathrobe who just happens to be green. It's clearly made with a lot of effort and skill, but combined with the aesthetic taste of a grumpy goblin.

I'm really loving VILLIAN so far, but also wondering what exactly my husband did to deserve this fictional fate (jk). (It might be a coincidence, but in a book about supervillains, that seems unlikely....)

No photo, because we do not take photos of strangers in public, especially for purposes of posting on the interweebs. But there was a red nose, blue afro, bright baseball cap and a multi-coloured scarf involved. Instead, enjoy this festive garbage can from Logan Square Station.
A black metal garbage can on a concrete and pebble floor, with more concrete in the background. It's really bleak and grey, is what I'm saying, except for the Christmas wreath with a red bow that's been hung on the garbage can. Festive!

They also don't specify size. Japanese beer companies often have a 135 ml can that makes the "challenge" even easier!

Late reply but: I do have two of these! They are fairly small for men's clothing (about 16" across at the top of the shoulders) but let me know if you are interested. One is tagged as "Nicholas DBL" but I can't guarantee that means either of them was worn by Joseph Potter in the show.

Sounds like the Brits may be taking the Al Capone approach, given that this charge seems related to business trade secrets rather than, y'know, the actual crime.
Screenshot from article lined below: "Last week, Thames Valley Police, which serves areas west of London, said they were examining claims that the former Prince Andrew sent confidential trade reports to disgraced business mogul Jeffrey Epstein during his time as the U.K.'s envoy for international trade."

Although the lot was listed as season 3, there are a number of season 2 leftovers, based on the name tags inside a few pieces. This pajama set, for instance, is from the S2 character Quang Pham. Other tags include "Gustave" (S2 played by Jake Cecil) and "Nicholas", who I couldn't find on IMDB.

As a costume nerd, this has been a lot of fun! I am learning a ton about professional costuming for TV from going through this stuff. But also: I have three of these lovely Michael Kors trenchcoats and they have all been attacked by a blowtorch. 🤷‍♀️
A very nice Michael Kors pleather trenchcoat, size small, black, that looks like it has been through the fires of hell with multiple burn marks. I now understand why John Constantine sticks to the classic fabric jacket.Close-up of the coat's shoulder showing the burn damage texture.

The distressing hasn't been done with some fancy cosplay technique, from what I can tell. It's just dirt. My hands are filthy from touching this stuff, despite washing them constantly. Then there's costuming stuff like this:
Four plaid button-down shirts. Three have been cut apart and sewn onto green long-sleeved t-shirts so that they will still look like a complete shirt when worn under a coat.

Something I need to clarify: the reason the auction only showed 8-12 items was because those were the best things in each lot. By far. There have been a few other treasures, but a lot of it is closer to this:
Two pairs of men's breeches on a white tile floor. The left pair is blue, with jagged hems and a heavy coating of dirt. The right pair is beige, also with heavy staining. Two pairs of matching men's breeches, with a third pair visible on the left. They are made from scratchy faux-wool in a green stripe pattern. The top pair is covered with reddish dirt.

Mount Costume has now been sorted into categories and I have begun measuring pieces. @jimzub.bsky.social has been shilling this "opportunity" widely in a desperate bid to reclaim our living room. So far he's lined up a few friends, a costume rental store and a pair of school theatre troupes.
