Clemons Poindexter has been playing drums since he was two years old, starting in the church in Chicago before branching into just about every genre he could get his hands on. Today he's known as the touring drummer for Khalid, holding down the groove on some of the biggest stages in pop and R&B. In this episode, Clemons talks about his path from gospel drumming to touring with a major pop artist, what it takes to build a groove that serves the song and the singer, and life on the road as a professional touring musician.

Aaron Comess has spent over three decades behind the kit, but most people know him for four minutes of music: "Two Princes," the song that turned Spin Doctors into one of the defining bands of the early nineties. There's more to the story than that hit, though. Before Spin Doctors blew up, Comess was cutting his teeth in New York's jazz scene, studying at the New School and building the kind of foundation you don't hear in a three-minute radio single. That background shows up in everything — how he locks into Chris Barron's phrasing, how he thinks about pocket, how he's moved between rock, blues, and jazz without losing what makes his playing his.

Ursula Sargent plays Rockstar in Blue Man Group's touring production — a role built around real-time reaction as much as rhythm. She's part live drummer, part music director, part DJ, adjusting the show's music and audio cues based on how the Blue Men and the audience are connecting on any given night. A Seattle native, she started on a single snare drum at age ten and went on to spend most of her career touring, with a brief stretch in New York.

Stanton Moore is one of the most recognizable drummers to come out of the Crescent City in the last thirty years. As the backbone of Galactic, he helped build a sound that fuses funk, jazz, and second-line groove into something that's uniquely his own. Beyond the band, he's built a career as a session player, a bandleader with Stanton Moore Trio, and one of the most respected drum educators working today — his instructional material has shaped how a generation of players think about pocket, feel, and New Orleans rhythm.

If you've spent any time with the records that defined the last three decades, chances are you've already heard Martin Ditcham — you just didn't know his name. He's the musician behind sessions and stages with The Rolling Stones, Sade, Elton John, Talk Talk, Tina Turner, Everything But The Girl, U2, Mary Black, Diana Ross, Brian May, and Chris Rea

On this episode of the Drumheads Podcast, we sit down with Davier Pérez, the Puerto Rican‑born drummer whose precision, power, and relentless work ethic have made him one of the most exciting forces in modern metal. Raised in San Juan and known early on for his complex footwork and dynamic technical style, Davier cut his teeth in the Puerto Rican metal scene before relocating to California to pursue drumming full‑time. After years as a touring and studio drummer—working with bands like Fit for an Autopsy and Great American Ghost—Davier officially joined DevilDriver in 2022, bringing a fresh surge of energy to the band’s signature groove‑driven aggression.
