First grant (NWO XS) ☑️ First bit of "my own" equipment ☑️ ✅ A bit of a wait between, but the benchtop incubator is finally shaking away in the @shapingmatterlab.bsky.social! First tenants: some plain ole' mycelium pellets. 😶‍🌫️

Happy to have been able to show off some beautiful fungi pellets at the Bioinspired GRS (in an equally beautiful location) that we are making in the @shapingmatterlab.bsky.social. It was a real pleasure meeting and talking with the many scientists there working on exciting research!

🍄 My latest work with @shapingmatterlab.bsky.social is officially out in Advanced Functional Materials. We used mycelium & 3D printing to create some beautiful materials. Check out the paper now: doi.org/10.1002/adfm... #3dprinting #livingmaterials #mycelium

Got to see the Lycurgus cup today, as a colloidal scientist to say I was excited may have been an understatement. The cup has silver and gold nanoparticles embedded in the glass which gives it its unique coloring, and has probably been on many intro to colloids ppt slides.

When some of the group, @shapingmatterlab.bsky.social, goes to a conference in your home country. You gotta ask for the essentials. 🤣 Thanks for keeping my work going this week. 💪

A little TU Delft energy in the middle of Manhattan. 🔥 Prometheus reminds us that knowledge is meant to be shared - the flame burns bright on both sides of the ocean. #tudelft #Prometheus #NYC

🎁🎄We had a wonderful Secret 'Saint Nicolas' (the Dutch Santa who comes in the beginning of December) at the @shapingmatterlab.bsky.social. I still haven't figured out which colleague gave me a pair of great books... With @m-amani.bsky.social in the foreground taking the picture.

Had some fun at #nwochains this year. 🌞 Presenting a poster and discussing with researchers in chemistry definitely offered some new perspectives. It was also great to catch up with some friends from the PhD.
