Giants fans are divided by those who cannot stand the Cowboys, those that cannot stand the Eagles, and those that cannot stand the Commanders. I personally cannot stand the Giants losing to the Commanders the most. So take the tie and relax for a bit.

Clever negotiating by Kiev. Reciprocity and fairness should always be sought against an adversary, even if the other side is getting away with murder in the meantime.

I am not one to give this Liverpool squad a pass but one should be granted in this Man City debacle today: No Gakpo, Isak or Szoboszlai. We are not that good to win without all 3 of those guys. And it took a dubious red card for the floodgates to open for City. www.nbcsports.com/soccer/news/...

Trump has designated Microsoft the odd hyperscaler out among the tech oligarchs in good stead with the Administration. (I wonder is this animus from the West Wing will impact Bill Gates or Steve Ballmer in some way.) Nadella is adding salt to the wounds by siding with Anthropic on this issue.

Byron Donalds strikes me as a nimble opportunist from Brooklyn who luckily has a propitious last name in MAGA circles, and wisely decided 2 years ago that DeSantis did not have what it takes. If he thinks he can succeed independently of Trump, he is delusional. www.politico.com/news/2026/10...

It is laughable to argue that Ukraine is responsible for high energy prices when you have the Houthis and the Iranians disrupting the most important waterways in the Middle East. But Trump does not like to look in the mirror. And he has in effect become an apologist for the Houthis, of all people.

The cat is out of the bag: Trump does not like to be on the losing side and he thinks Russia will win. It may not be any more complicated than that. But the Ukrainian government has to be praying that Trump will be the “loser” next month, and the Dems gain a majority in the House and Senate.

This Trump diesel deal with Russia is bad for Ukraine. Very bad. Not for the funds it will provide the Kremlin, but mainly for what it shows about the plans of the Kremlin. Putin held his nose and made a deal with Trump because Trump will be frozen in place while Russia floods Kiev with bombs.

Nothing of significance cannot seem to happen in eastern Congo without the acquiescence of Rwanda and M23. But there must have been a breakdown in communication that led to this skirmish. That area of the Congo is vast and there are not mercenaries enough to buy to make Kigali stand down there.

One of the basic problems with the current international law infrastructure is that you have multilateral entities seeking to judge & extract penalties from violators of international law. This does not work anymore. There should be a separation between adjudication and enforcement going forward.

The Nobel Peace Prize selection committee seems to be looking to underpin international law in a lawless world. This award will not have much of an impact. The international law system that developed in the wake of WW II is in desperate need of re-imagination and rebuilding from the ground up.
