1) We couldn't give the students Tylenol for fear that we'd get sued if the child had an adverse reaction. 2) If I would force my students to do anything, it would be to attend class and do their homework.

Now our 6-year old will say it. I also once gave my wife a few dinner choices which included soy garlic chicken, and she affirmed her preference by saying "soyyyyyyyyy!"

My wife and I use "hoyyyyyyy!" (in a high pitched voice) to mean one of us found something we like. It started as Mr. Burns' "Ahoy hoy!" from The Simpsons, then my wife first said "hoyyyyyy!" in a jokingly flirtatious way, and it's evolved into its present meaning.

It's still uncool, but standing on an NFL sideline while holding that mic is cooler than sitting in a chair and holding it.

In college (~2009), the student government advertised an event with free Chipotle. I showed up and found out they were giving away Chipotle chips and salsa, nothing else. When I complained to my brother (who was on student government), he retorted, "So what? We said we'd bring Chipotle. We did."

He's swinging harder / went to Driveline is likely my guess. Teams like to get the high-contact guys to be more aggressive to add some power.

Took a solid 5 minutes of pushing the "watch" button to finally stream Monday Night Football. Had no issues watching Dodgers/Brewers on FOX.

Assuming his likelihood of getting a hit is lower because he's facing some of the top Brewers relievers, it's likely his expected batting average is actually lower, so yeah, I think 38% over 2 PA is reasonable.
000
Andrew Bryzgornia @srsbryzness.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
Out of curiosity, I calculated his probability of getting at least one hit if he had 2 more PA and his chances of a hit were .267 (his batting average this season) and it came out to ~46%. Saying he has a .242 chance (his career batting average), then his probability is 42.5%.
110
Andrew Bryzgornia @srsbryzness.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
That was my thinking. If you add the probabilities of his next two PA, it's plausible that it's around 38%.

In July, I went to the NFL Flag Championships in Indiana to see the enormous boom in youth flag football in person. Turns out, girls love ball. My story leads off @bloomberg.com Businessweek’s November issue on women’s sports. Gift link: www.bloomberg.com/news/feature...

I'm getting a little loopy while lesson planning.
A Desmos graph of a parabola. The axes are labeled "Height (feet)" and "Horizontal Distance (feet)." The parabola stretches from x = 0 to x = 9, where it meets a vertical line stretching from y = 0 to y = 6. The vertical line is labeled "Pink Floyd's 'The Wall.'"

Reminds me of how we spend our winter camps and first several weeks of the high school baseball season in a dome where virtually every fly ball will hit the roof.
