First game we're announcing as a co-publisher 🥹 Mars is an ambitious game, and I’m 100% sure it’s going to be a hit. If you have time, check it out and wishlist it to support the devs (it’s a game by Cyborg Dreams, by the way).

It's been a while since my last post—well, hello there! We're currently looking for early playtesters for a client. I can't share too much yet since the game is unannounced, if you're interested in a farming game or need more info, send me a DM. #indiegame #playtest #indiedev

After two attempts with the weekly content, I feel like it doesn’t bring much value. Dear #indiedevs, would you prefer a weekly or bimonthly video with more marketing insights (maybe on YouTube) for your #indiegames? Comment with 👍 for video, 👎 to keep the current format, or other suggestions!

🔹Why drive Wishlists: It might seem obvious, but wishlists boost Steam’s algorithm, increasing visibility. They also help set marketing milestones and give you something to share on social media. Need help optimizing your Steam page? Let’s talk 👇 5/5

🔹 Stay active on your Community Hub: engage with players, answer questions, and post updates. Active page attracts more visibility and drives wishlists. 🔹Demo: A great way to drive wishlists and showcase your game's quality. If players enjoy it, good. If not... well, it’s valuable feedback. 4/5

Srayn @srayn.bsky.social · 29/01/2025
🔹 Good Visuals: Screenshots should tell a story, highlight USPs, and avoid empty-looking scenes. GIFs > static images. 🔹 Clear Description: Keep it structured, punchy, and readable. No walls of text. GIFs and images make it more visually appealing and easier to read, whitespace matters. 3/5
100
Srayn @srayn.bsky.social · 29/01/2025
🔹 Make your Hook clear : Your title, banner, and short description must instantly show what the game is about and why it’s unique. 🔹 Trailer: No logos, no black screens, jump straight into gameplay. Keep it 30-60s, dynamic, end with a wishlist screen (can be 2 trailers but different focus). 2/5

A general rule of thumb: allocate 10-20% of your development budget to marketing. Even if you rely mostly on organic channels, unexpected expenses will arise—better to be prepared! Need help optimizing your marketing strategy or time? Drop your questions in comments or DM me!😁

Unless you master all the necessary skills (rare!), some expenses are unavoidable: 🎥 High-quality trailers 📣 Promoting key posts 🧠 Expert consultations 🎟️ Attending events

So, can you do influencer marketing or PR without a budget? In theory, yes! Marketing, paid or organic, is two sides of the same coin. It’s possible to market your game without spending a dime... but it’s not entirely realistic.
100
Srayn @srayn.bsky.social · 22/01/2025
Marketing can be divided into two simplified categories: - Paid marketing: Boosting visibility through financial investment (ads, PR, influencers, etc.). - Organic marketing: Channels that generate visibility without requiring a budget (SEO, social media, etc.).

Srayn @srayn.bsky.social · 22/01/2025
Let’s talk about the elephant in the room: marketing without a budget is a no-go… or is it? Well, good news: that statement is (partly) false! Let me explain why. #IndieDev #Marketing #IndieGames

I struggle with this too! What kind of apps are you using? Your game looks awesome, by the way, I love it 😍 Maybe adding a little spring noise to the bouncy sound would make it feel more natural!

Oh, I definitely agree with that! I just see the marketing practicality of crowdfunding, but I understand that support feels safer and more impactful for devs 😊 Btw i really love your game, if you ever need advices or whatever it would be my pleasure, but it's wishlisted 🤩

Srayn @srayn.bsky.social · 20/01/2025
I must admit, it really makes life easier! Still, I have a soft spot for crowdfunding, haha.

As you can see, compared to the support available in France, crowdfunding has the same goal but different benefits. While grants are safer and often larger, they don’t offer the same impact on marketing and community building.

Srayn @srayn.bsky.social · 20/01/2025
I've always been interested in financial support for indie studios and devs. Lately, I've seen many more Kickstarter projects and thought it would be cool to compare the advantages and flaws of crowdfunding versus the support we have in France. #indiegame #indiedev #funding
