If you're an Americanist/Anglicist that has recently read a good MA student paper, consider pointing them to this graduate journal. It's a lovely team over there

The whole campaign against Arday by academia (and media) revealed that “the disaster of Black subjection” and its terror are “deeply atemporal” as Sharpe has said before. This scandalization of Black being and mis/conduct is a continuation of the pervasive anti Blackness that academia re/produces

It does. How to process 50000 people crossing a border. And not see the border as the violence.

So distributing zines and protesting ICE can get people 30+ years in prison (while Jan6 terrorists get pardoned) and somehow I‘m expected to go to the Fascist States of America for research if I ever want to make it in academia? Maybe I should have kept baking pretzels at REWE

Why does writing a Call for Papers for a conference feel so embarassing? 'Oh look at me, I really wanna talk about this thing and I'd love it if eleven other nerds joined and explained it to me'

The big problems with this are that 1) it is up to university management (Präsidium etc) to decide what constitutes an offence. These extrajudicial committees can make decisions that ultimately lead to deportations. Why no independent council that is less bound by academic-management affiliations?

My colleague Emma Barbieux wrote a little column about writing routines for our RTG's newsletter and apparently Belgian novelist Amélie Nothomb has it all figured out
