"It is to my knowledge that the Level5 company has largely embraced generative AI as evidenced by the transparent use of the technology throughout the recent Level5 Vision presentation and video game trailers. Among other things, I am disgraced and disappointed that the company would stoop to such a level in which they are reliant on a technology whose primary use is stealing from other hard working human artists and doing damage to the environment all in the name of cobbling together games cheaply with less effort and less passion. Yo-kai Watch is an incredibly special franchise to me, and the reveal of Haunted Domain feels like less of a revival of the series and more of a desecration of its grave. Level5 was once responsible for inventive and charming games and has now devolved into a company that is willing to sell out communities of artists and fans all over the world, while desperately trying to grasp at nostalgia in order to maintain good will. As a fan of Yo-kai Watch since its arrival to the Western market in 2015, I have no plans to purchase Yo-kai Watch 2 Haunted Domain due to its use of generative AI, and have rescinded any trust of the Level5 company until we have explicit confirmation that the technology will no longer be used in any part of the game development process. Several fans in the overseas Yo-kai Watch community agree and can attest to this. Level5 has disgraced and upset an entire community due to their practices and lack of respect for art."

I need to remind everyone, especially after their presentation today. Level-5 has been very openly using Generative AI in their game development and are proud of it. This includes their newly announced titles such as New World of Steam, Yo-Kai Watch 2 and Curious Village Remake.

Yeah not great. I can’t believe I came out feeling nothing from a direct that revealed a Yo-kai Watch 2 remake, something that would have me over the moon if I wasn’t confident Level5 was desecrating its grave with AI slop. But if the bar is last year’s Sept direct, then it’s definitely better…
