we saw/heard Kenny at one of his last gigs at Pizza Express, in London. There is a tremendous BBC TV documentary from the early 1980s. He had, for some time, been a Postman in East London :) Photography is not one of my life-skills LoL.

Tony Ray-Jones. I have driven past his plaque on (Gloucester Place, Marylebone, London) endless number of times. Here the Lancashire Britannia Nutters (I know, I know ...) are a foil to, what is I think, is a Daimler with the bonnet-up.

Sail and Steam. Two of Gaselee's tugs with the three bands on the funnel, 'heavy-lifting'. Strangely, the current Clerk of the Worshipful Company of Weavers, is a son of the last Gaselee on the River.

I have had a fortunate life. Sixteen years ago, I happened to be in the same Room as the wonderful Tim Garland. I was much slimmer and darker in those days ! The Pheasantry, King's Road, Chelsea.

So kind. Thank you. I must be locally in Barnet for Brunch on Friday. Go well. I picked this some years ago :)

After two years, one of my Drum Kits (the small one) has been moved from my 'Arthur Daley' lock-up, to our house. A wonderful domestic development ! The 'woodshed' is GO!

A parish boundary mark ? Any thoughts ? Perhaps not London. Norwich ? I have no idea.

@jdmccafferty.bsky.social This came up recently. There's one on eBay, but a bit expensive. I'll bide my time. Looks interesting.

Reminds me of this. I'm the lowly SJP :) I like the cheeky suggesting that JWE ought to pay special attention !

Oh, Hi Richard. Thanks for that. Greetings to all Vintners. I have a very happy memory of singing your song in the Hall (and drinking your wine!). All good wishes.

No worries. I was at Lloyd's for nineteen years. The atmosphere for a seventeen year-old in this place was electric !

Whitsun-Tide by Sir Alfred Munnings. An artist scorned by so many (or so I understand). I wonder whether there is still a Fun-Fair on Chingford Plains in Epping Forest. There still is on Hampstead Heath, I think.

Whitsun. And what a glorious day, weather-wise here in fashionable North London. El Greco, I think.

I must confess that not being massively into Football, the Jewish connection only occurred to me in adulthood. Our docker friends when I was kid, might go to Charlton when WH were away. Millwall was a no-no, natch. My first home match programme :) 58 'bus from Chingford with older lads.

I've been spending days labelling the photos on my hard drive. One group is titled 'Heading In' of which I post on my FB feed. The other is titled 'Full English". I do not photo food, as a rule, but I have a bit of a 'thing' about the perfect Full English Breakfast (and Fish & Chips). Samples:

Ascension Day greetings. Today is the Election Court of the Worshipful Company of Parish Clerks; as it has been for some hundreds of years. A new Master and Wardens shall be elected for the ensuing year. It's a joyous occasion.

Although I have eaten in the George & Vulture a number of times in the last forty years, I had never noticed these two parish boundary marks which are located *inside* the main bar and restaurant. Somewhat famously, the City Pickwick Club meet at the G&V four times per year.

Today I had a huge, post-Church Lunch in the George & Vulture in the City of London. The G&V used to be the more expensive (and better) version of Simpson's on Ball Court off of Cornhill (not Simpson's in the Strand). It's now a Samuel Smith's PH and slightly generic; with no cask ale.

Here is St Michael's Alley. Off of Cornhill. So named after St Michael's Church. This area has changed quite a bit in my lifetime; but in some ways, has not changed at all.

Change Alley, off Cornhill in the City of London. So named after the Royal Exchange which is close-by.

When I went to work in the City of London in 1976, one would see at 10:30 Discount House bankers walking down Cornhill to the @bankofengland.bsky.social to do business. This method of dealing in large sums of borrowed money finished with so-called 'Big Bang' I really must get a good top hat :)

Spinning vinyl. Consumate artistry. Part of my #JourneyIntoJazz Bringing-in top drawer West Coast session musicians, must have caused some tension within the Band. Only saw/heard them once; at Capital Radio Jazz Festival, Knebworth c1982.

Ten years ago, that most intriguing and (possibly) over-hyped* bit of archeology, London Stone, was re-sited in the front wall recess of a refurbed office block on Cannon Street in the City of London. *discuss Photo unattributed.

The imagery of Gog, Magog, Turtle Soup and Dragons was not lost to my parents and their generation of Londoners, but I suspect that these (albeit mocking) civic symbols are lost on today's generation.

Photo 05/2009. The huge redevelopment by the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths of their Harding bequest estate, just off New Fetter Lane in the City of London. Neatly painted property ownership marks abound.

Sadly, for better or worse, as a consequence of the Elizabeth Line development in Smithfield in the City of London, we lost this gem. I don't doubt that offal is readily available across the street in London Central Markets (Smithfield).

Photo on left taken 9/2009. Located on Hayne Street in the City of London (just). I presumed that they had been long-gone due to the Crossrail development, BUT when I was in Smithfield a month ago (with camera), I found that they had been cleaned-up and re-sited.

From my hard-drive 2010. A clutch of cast-iron marks located on Jewry Street on the City of London. Jewry Street follows the line of the Roman Wall. Boundary mark for the parish of St Katharine Cree. Boundary mark for Aldgate Ward. A City Lands Committee of the CoL ownership mark; pertaining to ?

Have finally dug this pic out from 2019 I think. Was on a nasty post blitz building on Farringdon Street by Turnagain Lane. A large ownership mark in the entrance door portal. No idea why it's 90 degrees out !

This is good ! :) Worshipful Company of Ironmongers holdings in Finsbury / St Luke's. All from one bequest, I believe. There are some ownership marks dotted around the area.

A lovely impression of the last Hall of the Worshipful Company of Parish Clerks. Sadly bombed during the Blitz. The Company's third and final Hall. Was in Silver Street / Wood Street in the City of London.

I'm stuck in the house, as the Council are (thankfully) re-surfacing our street. Going through photos on hard-drive. Here is the spire of St Margaret Lothbury from the roof of the @bankofengland.bsky.social Must be during the War.

A couple of (unattributed) photos of the huge industrial action which took place during the building of the Barbican in the City Of London. c1967 I think. The strikes were quite protracted, to say the least.

I picked this up last evening. A purchase from FB Marketplace. *Not* stolen goods ! Weighs a ton; brass castors on the front legs. From Guildhall in the City of London. I wonder what civic bums have graced this chair.

Our new Rector will be living in... the Rectory, which used to be a flat off of Gresham Street in the heart of the City of London. The Diocese sold the gaff; putting our then Rector into a house in the East End. The Diocese then came up with the flat in the tower of St Dunstan in the East. See pic:
