Sometimes I can't help but see these "added lore" as a way to justify the abuse that happened. Sj hating kids like binghe who aren't from privileged backgrounds is more than enough to explain why he abused them. It's not supposed to be logical bec abuse never was logical

But generally it just feels like between the time when your loved one dies and you have to process the documents and funeral, you're not really given any time to process your grief or mourn. Either you mourn during the burial or you mourn while they're alive

Helping arrange the funeral of a loved one just feels...abnormally fast. Like my grandpa just died yesterday and now we have to meet people and funeral parlors to ensure he'll be buried within the week or less. I suppose since he was sick and in and out of the hospital the family mourned him alive
