Remembering bass maestro Robbie Shakespeare who was born on this day in 1953. Robbie played on thousands of records over the decades. Here's just one. A mighty 12" that he also produced alongside Sly Dunbar... youtu.be/qyZqimgClVk?... #reggae #reggaesky #vinyl #music #musicsky

12" of Black Uhuru - Guess Who's Coming To Dinner on D-Roy label. Released in 1979. Produced by Sly & Robbie.

#OtD 9 Sep 1934 over 100k Londoners flooded Hyde Park to protest a rally by fascist leader Oswald Mosley. Mostly was drowned out by the anti-fascist locals, who then chased the police-protected Nazis out of the park. More about the fight in the 40s: workingclasshistory.com/2020/02/17/e...

www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_w9... This is great, especially when they talk about the Jacob's Optical Stairway album and the Juan collab on that. Interviewer rightly gets the death stare on a few occasions for some daft questions but mostly illuminating.

Tim Curry’s role in The Rocky Horror Picture Show was universally loved. Imagine the moral panic if it came out now, from those too stupid to realise they’re being regressed. I first saw it as a kid, I asked an adult why he was dressed like a lady, they said “because he wants to” and that was that.

It’s truly incredible to watch a political/media class packed full of crackpots and wingnuts - people who inflicted Boris Johnson *and* Liz Truss on Britain as PM - angrily insist that they cannot tolerate one black bullshitting man sullying their perfect system for rewarding merit and ability
