I wonder if the Heating Advisor to that Diocese was consulted on this. There must be a more suitable location for that external packaged boiler.

Look at tonight’s very welcome visitors to our back garden (farmer’s field). I’m told they are juvenile common cranes. Never seen them before but, I understand, their numbers are increasing.

Just watched the BBC #Proms “Prog Rock at the Proms” on catch-up. All pieces great but, for me, the highlight was Vanessa Haynes’ vocals on “The Great Gig in the Sky”. Sublime in my view.

The @MuseumCromwell #Huntington housed in the old grammar school in which Cromwell & Samuel Pepys studied. Building fragments of the 12th c. Hospital of St John the Baptist an almshouse run by Augustinians. Wonderful Romanesque arch.

Yesterday was my 1st railway journey for many years &, sadly, 1st on my own. From Acle to Norwich to Peterborough to Huntingdon to meet fellow apprentices of 50 years +. A great catchup chat over lunch. Then the journey back home. Overall a good long day. Trains staff great.

A visit today to the excellent @MuseumCromwell in #Huntingdon where the two members of staff were so informative & helpful. So many fine exhibits in a small area. Just love the Romanesque door. I highly recommend you visit.

Visited @sainsburycentre.bsky.social at the UEA today to view the “Living by the Rule” exhibition. Excellent & well worth a look. Reception staff welcoming & helpful. Loved the books etc on show. Some probably written in @Nrw_Cathedral monastic scriptorium.

Voted today & noted a campaigner wearing a political rosette inside the polling station & standing on the inside of the door to the voting area over-looking the desk staff & facing the voting booths. Is that allowed? @ElectoralCommUK

It reminds me of a favourite film loved by Diana and I, “Babette’s Feast”, which also shows love of people and life, and people brought close together through food and drink. I highly recommend both films to you all.

Just watched a wonderful, moving film, “The Taste of Things”, a 2023 French film available on BBC iPlayer. The New York Times perfectly described it “having elements of joy and sorrow, humour and intensity, beauty and light and shadow combine in a perfectly balanced experience".

My 11th visit @TheCCT to St. Margaret, #Hales, Norfolk. A Norman round tower thatched church with aspe & beautiful carved doorways. Octagonal font with carvings. Remains of wall paintings. A lovely church & a favourite of mine.

Rather disappointed that I have been unable to take gtgrandson for his weekly visit to the £17M library The Place, Gt #Yarmouth as Children’s section has been closed for many weeks due to a ‘water leak’. Please sort in a timely manner @morgansindallc @greatyarmouthbc @NorfolkCC

My 5th @TheCCT visit to St. Michael, #Booton, Norfolk. This wonderful church immediately put a smile on my grieving face. The quirky architecture, 3 towers, large carved roof angels, musicians in stained glass. Architect Lutyens said “Very naughty, but built in the right spirit.

My 4th @TheCCT visit to St. Faith, Little #Whitchingham, Norfolk. A remote parish church & very peaceful. My 1962 Pevsner described it as “disused and ruinous” but now in good condition. Almost empty with fine remains of wall paintings excavated in the 1970s. A lovely church.

Really enjoyed the interview with the great @johnmrutter on @BBCBreakfast this morning which has made my day. Reminds me of the two times Diana and I attended his ‘Come and sing day’. Wonderful memory for me as I travel this road of bereavement.

My 2nd @TheCCT visit to St. Peter’s at North #Barningham, Norfolk. A light, rather remote parish church & very peaceful. Tidy churchyard as others in CCT. Number of monuments & brasses. Unusual circular brick & stone design in nave floor. Another lovely church well cared for.

I continue my journey on this strange road of widowhood following the loss of my Diana and so, in addition to my National Trust trips, I have started to visit those churches now in the care of the Church Conservation Trust. Better late than never as we have been members for many years.

My 1st Church Conservation Trust visit to St. Mary’s Church, at nearby East #Ruston Norfolk. A light, spacious parish church & very peaceful. A fine font with demons on its base & bearded faces on the panels. Good rood screen with 8 figures. A fine church well cared for.

It is with sadness that I have to let you know that we lost Di on the morning of Wednesday, 21st. She died peacefully at home holding my hand & with Betty the cat at her side. She will be missed by me, our 3 sons, 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, the wider family and numerous friends.

Thank you @jamespagethospital.bsky.social and @morgansindall.bsky.social for creating the courtyard near ward 15. With my wife Diana spending 5 weeks in hospital & me visiting & staying with her everyday it is a place of peace & sanctuary for me, & others.

Diana has been a patient in Ward 15 at JPH for the last 4 weeks and I visit her everyday. We have witnessed the professionalism, care, support etc of the nurses and NHS colleagues on each of those days. We all should celebrate Nurses Day.

It was a pleasure to be on duty Welcoming @Nrw_Cathedral when the visiting choir from @GirtonChoir arrived for Evensong. A few days later I saw a wonderful note in the visitor’s book by a Miranda from Blackpool saying “Girton College did a banging evensong”. Praise indeed.
