Pet rent is nearly uniquitous now, as I just saw first hand during apt hunting this summer. Esp. w/ newer & larger bldgs. It’s a rapacious scam with no legit basis, and only a law will stop it. If rent is based on how many organisms live in a place what’s next? Baby rent? Roommate & spouse “fees”?

We’re showing some early Batman cartoons and a serial episode as part of this show! Plus there’ll be life size replicas of the freakin’ BATCOPTER and BATMOBILE, and Batman “himself” will be there! Holy nostalgic overload! To the Bat Poles — don’t miss it!

I use a tablet to view the PDF version in a browser and go into single page mode. Sometimes I still need to zoom in a bit, which is still irksome, but since it’s a touch screen it’s directly tactile and I’m not having to fuss with a mouse.

What a great selection. I also love that they’re including two 3-D films. Of those, “Wings of the Hawk” is a really good one (directed by Bidd Boetticher, no less).

The real problem is it was intended as a trial run for closing a big chunk of the Ave to traffic permanently. And I’m sorry, but that is a terrible idea.

I’m not sure my 16mm print is terribly unique — or at least not uniquely aged. Its a fairly low-generation dupe from the same MOMA print that pretty much all of the others in the world originated from one way or another. The stock music soundtrack seems unusual; even has some electronic segments.

Holy shit!! This is huge! We co-presented ultra rare 35mm screenings in 2015 at the Grand Illusion Cinema, and never thought this would happen. At the time, WB was still so uptight about THE DEVILS that they wouldn’t even allow BFI to release a blu-ray.

It should be your absolute goal to make sure any film/tv/arts/culture book you purchase from now on is directly from mzs.press, “the arts bookstore of the internet.” Matt is the best of the best, human & writing wise, and when he needs some help, we all gotta help! Plus: it’s a fantastic bookstore!!

Um…point of order. Why are their photos published in the story when they “asked to be identified only by their first names because they fear retaliation if deported back to Russia”? The FSB knows how to identify people from photos. (So does DHS, for that matter.)

Wow! Seriously great selections. Every one of these is a great watch, and the chance to see them on a big screen (where they belong) is rare. Jacques Tourneur’s CANYON PASSAGE is a particularly deep cut, and it’s presence in this series is a sign you should hitch up your wagon and head into town.
