"How did you get into TTRPGs" Wil Wheaton's show Tabletop did a two part episode on Fiasco, and Jesse Cox played in a Numenera mini-campaign. Those things combined led to me unable to stop thinking about games to this very day.

People get confused about the trans sports thing because at a glance it seems like a small issue that impacts a very small number of people and thus makes sense as a "reasonable" concession. But it isn't, because conceding that is accepting that a kid's trans identity is on some level fraudulent

Oh, this is FUN fun. Really excited for the full thing. Reminds me of the coat of arms generation in the ASOIAF TTRPG, which is far too complex for its own good and also very fun.

An anthropomorphic dog in medieval soldier garb holds a shield. On the shield is a coat of arms, which is a red field with a green cross, and a blue-and-green depiction of an open hand on it. An anthropomorphic dog maiden is appreciating the shield.

Working on an adventure for @anxiousmimicrpgs.bsky.social's A Most Bloody Devotion, and out came a homebrewed class to go with it, the Wretched Actor! It's inspired by early modern arguments against theatre, parasocial relationships, and Kon Ichikawa's movie An Actor's Revenge.

Wretched Actor
One of the lowest of all boys and men, a player who pretends to be others, no matter their station.
Truths
• You are considered lower than other men and boys by the pious, the modest, and the violent.
• With a costume to don and time to prepare, you can pretend to be any gender and any class well enough to fool all cursory glances.
• When performing in public, you will always draw a crowd and please the masses with your tasteless humor and exaggerated melodrama.
• During a performance, you may lock eyes with someone in the audience and draw their Adoration, a form of claim concerned with fandom, patronage, and parasociality.
Trappings
• A box of makeup for the stage.
• A dull, but polished sword, which looks like the real thing.
• A box of costumes, hauled upon your back.
• A bag of 2d6 silvers, tied with a ribbon, from a nobleman whose Adoration you hold.
Claim
• The man who brought you into the theatre has Stewardship over you.
• You’ve seen one of your fellow PCs lie, and you know they can act better than you. They have your Adoration.

This is, of course, frustrating on a basic level. But as a historian, it's frustrating to know that there are dozens of interesting historical settings that prominently feature piracy. Seeing people continue to go to The One Underpinned By Genocide and then fumble it is exhausting.

Remember you can back and then up your backing to get rewards later! Last year, I ran a weekend game of this where we played 24 total hours of this game with handmade components. It was one of the most fulfilling and exciting gaming experiences I've ever had.
