one of the things i really really love about her particular flavor of Revenge Plot (that i feel isn't used as often as, say, the Vinland Saga-esque Cycle of Violence etc), is that its like... it directly looks at revenge as a "Power Fantasy", and focuses instead on how

she can be smarmy and cloying. she can be genuinely soft and remorseful. she can be just, like, a complete cruel asshole. she can have moments of hating herself for BEING a cruel asshole, or moments when she steps back and apologizes for it. she has so many Layers... she's so GOOD i feel crazy

she is SOOOOOOO EVERYTHING uuggghh i cant stop thinking about her. i've been rambling to myself nonstop about how much i love her.... i love her RANGE so much

my biggest problem with FW i will admit is that kagetsu isn't in it. i miss him.

i like that leda's special route mechanic is getting jamba juice btw

for all its flaws, one thing i do really respect about FE is how it tries new things constantly. it's VERY hit or miss on if theyre good, but i like that it TRIES! (also i know tactics ogre is where the UO style originated but i have not played that LOL so i am only citing UO)

god tho. UO was such a great way to get playability out of ALL your chars. i loved making little units. it ruled SO much. not that i think FE should do it too (i dont), but... if they did, i'd be listening. they KIND OF did with Paired Units in fates tbh? kinda similar to Link Attacks too tbh

i dont think FE needs to learn anything about the combat from UO at all, since theyre COMPLETELY apples and oranges. BUT... i do think FE could learn from how UO handled like, map/free time/etc kind of stuff. it has similar concepts but never felt like a chore

i actually have not physically PLAYED a fire emblem since fates + echoes, since we played 3H and Engage in the apartment together, so it's been nice to actually PLAY a fire emblem again... but i will say it DOES make me appreciate Unicorn Overlord's gameplay a lot more (and i already LOVED it)

Odin Sphere is my fav game of all time, so a fire emblem with a similar-ish structure to Odin Sphere/13SAR has been like drugs to me. there's something really satisfying about the feeling of things "coming together" slowly through multiple perspectives

the whole oirat arc does not make this Subtle. fatima just destroyed the lives of countless oirat women because the only way she can "win" is by making EVERYONE in this empire miserable

let's enjoy the thrill of that premise and the complex and nuanced writing and the fascination of watching someone convince themself that that's what they HAVE to do... instead of pretending it's a girl power "revenge is good" perfect victim story....

they are doing wrong!! they are doing SO much wrong!!! they are ACTIVELY BECOMING VILLAINS, ON PURPOSE, because if they orchestrate Villainous Deeds under the name "mongol empire", then it furthers their personal goals of "making sure that the mongol empire is never remembered as Good"

its attracting the "people who cheered Girl Power at the end of midsommar" crowd, is kind of specifically what i mean... like the thrill and what makes jaadugar so good is watching fatima fall deeper and deeper into villainy in her pursuit of revenge as she "becomes a witch"

typically FE has, you know, some kind of big military conflict, and the chars are minding their business and get swept up into it. usual FE lord goal is "we have to win the war"/"we have to survive the war". so i really love how different each lord's motivation is here!!

okay wait ONE more FW thought: i LOOOVE the concept of the tournament and how the game centers around it. i love it because it gives so much... agency, ig? to the four lords, and also to EVERYONE else. it makes the same feel so much less like "things happen to the chars"

IT'S LITERALLY SOOOOOOOO CUTE god they have SUCH a fun dynamic too.......... peter really is so like. arnold magic school bus "i KNEW i shouldve stayed home today....... 😭" i am ENDLESSLY endeared.

to me it's just like... PART of the character building??? that's who they are. i have no desire to rewrite their character concepts just to make them better units LOL
