Ivy Reese @spiralganglion.com · 23/04/2026Here are some of the letters I made for Tenfold, the fun little "birthday party" we're having as Ink & Switch turns 10 years old. • a catenoid, designed by todd matthews and coded by me • gizmos, from inkling • "enbossed" • a sphere made of circles, eclipsed 🤍 inkandswitch.com/project/tenf... 1556
Ivy Reese @spiralganglion.com · 22/01/2026There are 32+ people's voices in this episode, most of whom are people I've never met before. The best part: it's *perfectly* on-topic for the paper we're discussing. I couldn't be more excited for this one. 090

Ivy Reese @spiralganglion.com · 16/10/2025🫠 automerge.org The new Automerge website is live!! The biggest (smallest) surprise? How fun it was to build the demo! Automerge is so robust, it withstood all our weird ideas — like using physics-driven particles to literally push changes between docs — and it just worked. Perfectly. Every time. 1414020
Ivy Reese @spiralganglion.com · 11/09/2025Given how little the app does, it's bananas that Gmail needs to download 700mb to apply some bug fixes and perf improvements. Why is the entire app more than 100mb, frameworks and assets and all? Wasteful. 260
Ivy Reese @spiralganglion.com · 03/08/2025it's uncouth to make software always be guilt-posting like a puppy with its tail between its legs buuuut these are pretty heavily funny 170
Ivy Reese @spiralganglion.com · 23/07/2025HCI / PL folks How do you entice a self-professed non-programmer to learn your programming system? Give it a good story! Try: structure the learning curve around the story. Narrative design can be PL design! (@plante.bsky.social on Kaizen: A Factory Story — www.patreon.com/posts/tony-h...) 170

Ivy Reese @spiralganglion.com · 02/03/2025It's a bit like a "sixth sense" for canvas diff over time. * I can feel what's past and future, and how far * I can feel where pauses will happen vs quick changes * stationary stuff feels markedly different from stuff in motion 0161

Ivy Reese @spiralganglion.com · 27/02/2025I asked AI models to not reply. • GPT-4 and 4o handled it perfectly — no reply at all. • o1 and o3 made me *ask them to adjust*, and it worked. • Grok was a smartass, saying shit like: [nothing] • Claude would not shut up. Paragraphs, every time. Can you get it to work? 130

Ivy Reese @spiralganglion.com · 13/11/2024Just noticed a rather nice, super subtle thing in Mac OS. When you Command-Tab to cycle through apps, you can press Tab repeatedly to keep cycling, and it wraps around. But if you hold down the Tab key… you slam into the end of the list! They added Fitts's Law to a keyboard-driven UI 🤯 2412
Ivy Reese @spiralganglion.com · 11/11/2024One of my old-fav 3D modelling tools — Modo — just died. But, the company is giving everyone a free 10-year license!
