Several weeks ago, Phil Tippett's legendary animation studio in Berkeley, CA closed. An anonymous hero noticed a folder of CDs. This turned out to be hundreds of unseen hi-res images and videos from Star Wars, Robocop, Jurassic Park, etc. ~90 isos for you to browse: archive.org/details/tipp...

A casual Star Wars alien fella at the cantina, in a sun faded, reddish photo. Someone will be mad at me for not knowing who this is.

Phil, a balding Caucasian man, poses a model of the garthok, an antagonist from the Coneheads movie.

Phil, a balding caucasian man, points at some CG on a CRT computer monitor, as a younger man looks on. The screen shows a model of a dinosaur attacking a jeep, while there's an actual physical model of that event in the foreground for reference.

an isolated shot of a star wars vehicle. Sorry, I don't know star wars lol

Love Midnight Madness. You never know what you’re going to get, but you will have fun. What about your other 17 films? My tops out of the 26 films i saw were Wild Horse Nine, The Only Living Pickpocket in NY, Ink, Fjord, Rogue Trooper & Back in Black. Looking forward to hearing more about tiff!

@manmademoon.bsky.social Thanks so much for bringing Rogue Trooper to #TIFF26! So much fun watching the action and listening to so many great comedians enjoying themselves!

Saw this at tiff last year (and went on a school trip to the show many years ago). It was so amazing how they were able to use the found recordings. And great interviews with everyone involved!

Bring the buyers to TIFF’s Midnight Madness and consider it SOLD! That crowd is the BEST!

Got a huge audience response when we showed the trailer at our local film fest. Can’t wait to get our hands on it!

Got my tix for the Midnight Madness screening at TIFF. I’ll be asking a question from the middle of the orchestra. Who else is coming?

It's common sense innit

THESE so-called 'environmentally friendly' wind turbines are all well and good, but surely statistically 50% of the time the wind is blowing the other way? This will make them spin in the opposite direction, sucking power from the grid instead. I'm only a butcher and I figured that out, so what we pay boffins like Professor Brian Cox fat research grants for is anybody's guess.

This is set up for laughs, but it’s actually one of the best demonstrations I’ve seen of how being capable of producing convincing sounding language and understanding meaning are two completely different things. A chatbot does not understand you, it just has automated responses based on your words.

Review consensus: “Critics were largely divided on the film's execution. While many praised the striking, evocative cinematography and Grégoire Colin's committed performance, some felt the film was overly self-indulgent, obscurantist, and struggled to maintain momentum across its 105-minute runtime”

Full Contact (2015). Saw at TIFF. Boring view inside the head of a drone operator. Fell asleep during a near empty press & industry screening and a guy in my row woke me up because I was snoring.

I manage a theatre where it is playing, and the people that see it love it. And they are generally aware of why it stopped where it did.
