After 2009 a lot of devs lost their jobs. A lot of studios shut. Projects were cancelled. Studios made nothing but sequels and safe bets. Many devs didn’t come back, but those that did rebuilt the industry and met the demand that was still there. It’s grim as fuck out there, but it will get better.
