That's a great question. When I draw a character over and over again, it creates empathy - not towards them, but people who look like them, relate to them, the ideas they represent. I often give my characters bits of me too, and because I can be self-critical it becomes nice a way to see myself with more kindness.

Also, I like giving them cute outfits!
