fandom is largely an escapist hobby so I wonder what it says for those of us for whom it takes the form of "I can't wait to go home and torture my imaginary homunculus" instead of imagining it happy lol. I need top sociologists working on this stat

I knew someone who refused to play non-BL fe3h routes (ie ignore 2/3 of the game) cuz she didn't want to kill the units. I told her "people die in the war simulator game." Then I watched her browse fluffy mouthwashing fanart and fic. 🤷‍♀️ different strokes for different folks I guess

My real motivation to get good at drawing and have social media presence is so I can network with those big name artist alley people that I look up to grrr

omfg I do literally this. I was once late to work, my actual job that pays me money for rent, because I had stayed up too late drawing because I always feel the need to finish an illus in as few sittings as possible. like why 🫠 whats the rush it's not a job 😂 ahhh

Im late... I'm happy you liked it, I had no clue what I was doing with the characterization 😂... if you want, you have my permission to post the pages to your accounts, I usually don't post my artfight stuff on social media anyway + they're your ocs haha.

nyroc @spect-ion.bsky.social · 15/07/2026

I wanted to finish an artfight attack but I had to go to work 😔 I can only draw under deadlines, once I have free time I'm like I don't know I can't draw all of a sudden. Maybe I'll pick up some kind of insane personal project like an AMV 😖 animation is like the end of drawing though whew

010

nyroc @spect-ion.bsky.social · 07/07/2026

does it do anything other than waste your time and eyes and wrist?????? maybe if I was any good at it 😂 I dont think it's that dire, I'm just going through some problems right now and loss of interest in my hobbies seems like a symptom of it. Airing out my mental state online, what is this, twitter?

I saw a tweet with the sentiment like, being (insert your age here) and your primary skill is drawing pictures, what a joke. lately I think to myself, so how long have you been drawing? Many years. Are you good at it? no, not at all... do you enjoy drawing? also no...

It's not my first time feeling this way but idr how I got out of these slumps. I also work full-time now among other time-consuming responsibilities 🫩 and I can't carrot-on-a-stick myself with social media numbers anymore... maybeeee artfight could fix me... idk...

Yeah... ime a strong saving factor is if the server has to do with meeting offline. I was gonna go on about crazies on the internet but there's nothing new to say there haha. ig ideally these servers supplement instead of replace these (irl) spaces, but if it doesnt exist in the first place... ><

nyroc @spect-ion.bsky.social · 21/06/2026

Yeah I guess my bsky is just my vent platform now huh. I always find it ironic that I tell people I draw as a hobby, but most of the time it just does the opposite of destress me or make me happy.

120

nyroc @spect-ion.bsky.social · 21/06/2026

I deadass forgot how to draw again good grief. All those figure drawing classes in the past for nothing. It really only takes what feels like a short break for me to forget everything. Lately seeing good art just demoralizes me instead of inspiring me because I can't do that 😔

120

nyroc @spect-ion.bsky.social · 17/06/2026

wanted something like that of my own but I have no clout 😔 That's also an important factor for getting art servers off the ground. Anyway who wants to make a 22+ art hermits with jobs coworking server with me. Or invite me to theirs.

In the mangaichiba server there was extensive talk about making a general doujinka discord but nothing came of it bc no one (rightly) wants to bear responsibility managing an "unofficial" (official) general doujin community. I get it. I think the ideal art discords are just you and your homies. I've
