I felt like the strong grain of the oak required a sharp design. I am flip flopping between “Love Hurts” or “Guard Your Heart” as a title for this design.

“Lovebirds” 2025 For the Ornithologists out there, this looks nothing like lovebirds because I was actually looking at images of pigeons when I was sketching this out. But as my partner says “tomatoes potatoes” 🤣 #woodcarving #birder #birdwatcher #folkart #art #traditionalart #artform

A heart shaped carving of two birds mirrored images, looking at one another surrounded by tulips.

These little hearts have been such a pleasure to carve. I absolutely have a favorite and am excited to explore additional designs. #art #handcrafts #handcarved #folkart #tulips #valentinesday

By far my most commissioned design to date. Any guesses on what flower this abstract design represents?! #art #traditionalart #folkart #woodcraft #womenartists

This is a sneaky preview of my most commissioned design of 2024. Anyone recognize the abstract flora depicted here? Hint: it is commonly mistaken for a fungus.

These candlesticks were inspired by one of my favorite songs. The first set did not come out the way I envisioned. But with practice and patience I’ve been able to develop my technique to reach my desired outcome nearly 6 months after my first try. #art #folkart #woodcarving #folkartist

Finished up the background. I keep a scrap piece available to try out new tools and test textures patterns. I still have a bit to go before I’m ready to work on the details of the duck. Follow along to see more. #art #crafts #woodworking #woodcarving #newyorkartist

Wood carving in progress that depicts a duck peeking under the water as three fish swim by. In the completed background there are abstract irises along the water’s edge.

Started carving. On this cold snowy day I’m looking forward to sunnier days creek side watching the ducks swim, eat, and prune. #art #woodcarving #folkart #craft #gallery

“Tulpen” 2025 I’m really enjoying the tulip share that I’m splitting with a friend. Everyday I’ve woken up more in awe of their beauty.

While everyone is talking about the price of eggs, now is a good time to find your local farms! 👩🏿‍🌾🌽🐄 Visit your Farmers' Market, ask your Extension office & browse the Black Farmers Index - they've been here the whole time, and they'll be here when the national grocery store supply chains break down.

Laying out the next carving project. I am working to be more intentional with my carving. Sketching multiple pieces out and living with them for a bit before I start carving. This way I can make adjustments before the permanent carving phase begins.

Yes, I really need a new eraser but I’m trying to not purchase from new/corporate chains. Any recommendations are welcome. For anyone wondering, I base my pricing on cost of materials + $25/hour. To get to this point I have 3 hours and $25 worth of materials invested.

Sharing as a moment of peace and with a belief that we may fall to the ground in the darkness of night, but the sun will come out again. May we sprout and grow stronger in spite of the tests of today. Love your neighbor regardless of their citizenship status. #hopeful #art #wewillrise #digitalart

“The Chair Weaver’s Companion” - 2024. The title has a double meaning: the cat, always nearby when rattan weaving is happening, and his wife, who commissioned this piece for my friend Phil. A tribute to craftsmanship, companionship, and the small moments that make creating special. #art #folkart

One of my earliest carvings, “Lure of the Eleven.” I plan to carve another version of this with the skills I’ve gained in the last three years. I love FLX, located on the land of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, and I’m so grateful to call this region my home. #flx #indigenousland #art #woodcarving

I also work with digital art from time to time. I’m currently obsessed with this bolo wearing, banjo pick in’ trash panda.

Sometimes I film my process. I’ve made some changes to my materials this year. I’m now using milk paint, a non-toxic, VOC free, and even biodegradable/compostable paint. I’m really enjoying this journey of discovery. #art #woodworking #processvideo #carving #artist #newyork

Found a pair of 1970’s Zodiac pendant light completely gutted, covered in dust, and buried in the back of a barn. My talented coworker has been working on cleaning them up, rewiring, and even welding custom mounting brackets. My favorite astrological symbol is Capricorn’s sea goat but I’m biased.
