Continuing this line of thought, with how Sceleritas, knowing how DU feels in regards to Astarion, is affirming the urge with his language around being believable. "He will never believe that." Being believed is so important to DU, but so is the need to believe in others.

I will never get over the self-hatred of the DU. I can't think of a character that thinks as poorly of themselves as DU does. "She doesn't believe you..." internal screaming I think for Dirge, meeting Isobel just affirms his belief that no one can understand him and no one is coming to save him.

#tavqotd Dirge is going to ask questions, but the most decisive is if there are people in need of rescue, if so, he'll invite the Warlock on to Nimbus (Pegasus) to fly there. If not he'll tag along but send Nimbus (Hound) with a message for the nearest Harper post. Cults are his specialty.

#tavqotd 18. Most Profoundly impacting relationship: Unbeknownst, Astarion was killing him in all the ways he needed to die, stripping him of bhaal's essence bite by bite, giving way for someone new, someone playful, patient, considerate, foolishly trusting and occasionally cute.

Please tag book spoilers after the release, it doesn't release here until the 15th, I'm probably gonna have to pirate a digital copy if I wanna read it earlier and there's still no signage or information about the audiobook releasing in the uk either 😞

'Guillotine, named after a man who believed it an object of mercy, hitherto a brutally blunt device constructed specifically for magistrates. That decapitation is but one of few ways to kill a vampire seems a sweet irony, but no sweeter then the mercy I envision keeping me beneath you.'

#tavqotd Dirge will tell you anything you want to hear but he can't remember a whole lot about himself. What comes to him does so in flushes and then, it's gone. As such there's no given time it takes for him to "warm up" just moments of vulnerability & a coil of shame he will try to forget.

#tavqotd what warms my heart about these two is how they each bring light to each others world. From Dirge's perspective, w Astarion is like a star: bright, distant, constant. From Astarion's, Dirge is like a candle: warm, close, fluctuant. How they bring these traits together, like a sun.

#tavqotd Dirge is pretty gullible, it doesn't often serve his interests to question people when he's trying to garner trust & hide his innermost thoughts & impulses. Besides if someone's wilful misguidance resulted in non-consensual pain then he figures it's a reasonable excuse for murder.

Channel 199: Anime Central & Channel 195: Anime Network, my beloveds. Was way too young to be watching some of these but they were very cathartic so I'm glad I did.

I gotta reread Anima, it was my first manga, it's v cute. Anima take on traits of animals, Cooro is a crow, Husky is a fish, Senri is a bear & Nana is a bat. Anima are often exploited or ostracized but these four come together to form a found family.

#tavqotd Dirge gives me a space to put down all my love and the grief that comes with it, a home for my heart to rest. Gives me a dream to endure the dark, while preparing me for the dawn. He is for me what I hope he would be for Astarion, and what I hope I can be for the people I love.

#tavqotd Not so much a sexual attraction but a spider in the goblin camp gave him the hots with all its talk of binding & biting, then he saw Kar'niss: pretty as Astarion in his mind. Dirge keeps it zipped tight, until one drunken conversation w Astarion, who laughs at & teases him.

Astarion teasing Dirge with derogative praise about how easy he is, how easy it is with him. Then coming to a haunting realisation as to why after talking about Araj with him. Both shamefully identifying with Araj as they're confronted with how their trysts began against what they've become.

#tavqotd I made this from a base that trended for a bit if that counts 😅 i wanted a quick warm up & thought it was cute :> reminded me of their early act 1 dynamic where they're kinda projecting: Dirge leeched off Bhaal's favor for years / Astarion spent a lot of the time in the kennels.

#tavqotd Thought I'd crack open picrew for this one. Dirge is a pretty even mix of his parents in appearance, but personably leans towards his father, sometimes purposefully. Like his love of jewellery he gets from his mother, but his choice of glasses is a conscious mimicry of his father.

#tavqotd A small vial of ossra, a tiny bottle of perfumed oil, a chaunsel rub, a collection of Waterdavian tea blends, a little pot of honey, and for a selected few, a piece of card enchanted with a sending spell targeting Astarion; written on the card: Evernight Escorts.

#tavqotd Dirge is a discrete flirt, his attraction (be it platonic, physical, etc) is mostly mirrored in what he permits & reciprocates. Since he won't do what isn't done to him he's not particularly proactive, but if there's a bar he'll tell the staff he'll pay for their next drink.

#tavqotd Dirge has The Haunted One background as a custom DU, however I don't agree much with BG3's take on it, so I HC 5e's mechanics by making him proficient in Religion & Survival (and know Abyssal & Undercommon in tabletop settings).
