Finished Lanterns. Holy shit.

Spatulo @spatulo.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

Man Jim Carrey sure did a lot of movies where he drives like a maniac in one or two scenes huh? Anyway I’ve seen Bruce Almighty a buncha times and it’s still so funny

Forgotten Island is one I’m gonna remember for a long time (ha see what I did there). One of the most gorgeously animated movies I’ve ever seen, like seriously top notch stuff, outrageously funny, and it totally didn’t make me cry you can’t prove anything

Spatulo @spatulo.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

I can’t lie, Liar Liar was really good, but I’d be lying if I said I thought I was the first person to make that joke. It’s just really funny and does not let its deceptively simple premise go to waste.

Spatulo @spatulo.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

I watched Chowder a bunch back in the day but had never seen the entire series until now. It’s great fun, at its best when it’s reveling in its own psychedelic absurdity. The fourth wall is merely a suggestion, and this was a time when that was a novel concept.

Man that soundtrack hits different in the theater, so glad to finally experience Transformers the Movie like that. Yeah it’s a feature length toy commercial but it’s our feature length toy commercial, dammit. (open)

I have no idea how kids in the 80s/early 90s beat Ninja Gaiden but dang that’s a good video game

121

Spatulo @spatulo.bsky.social · 13/09/2026

I have had the movie moment of Odysseus’s big reveal painted in my mind’s eye since I first read the Odyssey in college and that wasn’t it but it was still extremely satisfying so that’s pretty cool

121

Spatulo @spatulo.bsky.social · 13/09/2026

How the hell did this movie come out in 1998, I feel like somebody must’ve actually livestreamed their child’s birth on Twitch by now

121

Spatulo @spatulo.bsky.social · 12/09/2026

Oh hey the movie’s pretty good too. Maybe it’s why it won all those awards.

121

Spatulo @spatulo.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

Man dontcha love when the final boss isn’t that hard they just have nine trillion HP. Anyway besides that Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow is pretty good! Feel like it’s not quite as good as Aria but I enjoyed it. Glad to play it in the collection so the seals are just buttons.

111

Spatulo @spatulo.bsky.social · 06/09/2026

Still amazing. Possibly even spectacular.

Spatulo @spatulo.bsky.social · 30/08/2026

Coyote Vs Acme had me on the edge of my seat, made me laugh, almost made me cry, I can’t believe a soulless corporation didn’t want to air this genuine heartfelt super anti-corporate movie. Wait.

My beautiful wife bought me a copy of Earthbound and I decided to finish the level 86 file that was on it just to see Giygas on a real SNES and this dingbat told the game his name was Ness, at least he didn’t say Fuckface or something

Spatulo @spatulo.bsky.social · 30/08/2026

Live A Live is an honest to god masterpiece. Simultaneously the spiritual predecessor to Chrono Trigger and something all its own. Just an absolutely unforgettable experience. Special shout-out to the soundtrack, some of Yoko Shimomura’s best work. Go Steel Titan!

Spatulo @spatulo.bsky.social · 27/08/2026

My beautiful wife was kind enough to track down a copy of the PS2 version of that very same game for me and it has an arcade mode just like the arcade version and I beta that too, Krillin is 2 and 0 with Perfect Cell in this game as far as I’m concerned.

111

Spatulo @spatulo.bsky.social · 22/08/2026

Have you ever heard of this game cause I sure hadn’t. Super Dragon Ball Z is, despite the name, a PS2 game but I played the arcade version. I played as Krillin, I guessed how to do a Destructo Disc and I was right. I beat the whole game on one credit, Krillin killed Perfect Cell. It was awesome.

111

Spatulo @spatulo.bsky.social · 14/08/2026

Did you know that the first block in The Hotel Lobby’s Secret has a 1-up in it? I’ve been playing this game since Circuit City still existed and I didn’t know that until today. Anyway, I beat Super Mario Sunshine again, this time on NSO. Should do the Euro one next time just to beat EVERY version.

111

Spatulo @spatulo.bsky.social · 13/08/2026

Virtual Boy Wario Land actually kinda rules? It’s like the missing link between Wario Land 1 and 2, with more of 1’s classic platforming mixed with 2’s puzzle elements. The pixel art actually looks kinda awesome in 3D, especially now that I don’t have to see it all in red lol

132

Spatulo @spatulo.bsky.social · 12/08/2026

Beat Julius mode too and my god he’s a power trip. I’ve done Richter mode before in SotN and Portrait of Ruin but he never felt THAT broken. Guess that shows he’s really the guy who defeated Dracula once and for all.

111

Spatulo @spatulo.bsky.social · 11/08/2026

I swear I had no idea that August 11 was the anniversary of Dracula’s final defeat when I started to play Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow the other day, crazy coincidence lol. This game rules, great music of course, I love the soul system, just super fun and satisfying.

Spatulo @spatulo.bsky.social · 08/08/2026

Oh to be able to share the joy of really getting into something and discovering guys who worked on Rayman Legends made a platformer based off it. Unruly Heroes is great, beautifully animated and clever gameplay with a delightful Journey to the West inspired backdrop. Just needed a better name.

121

Spatulo @spatulo.bsky.social · 08/08/2026

SpongeBob SquarePants Season 11 is weird lol. It’s good for the most part, the show’s just gotten a lot more off the wall with some of its episode concepts.

111

Spatulo @spatulo.bsky.social · 06/08/2026

Picked up Unruly Heroes after discovering it online since I’ve been reading Journey to the West. This is a very pretty video game. #UnrulyHeroes #NintendoSwitch

Spatulo @spatulo.bsky.social · 02/08/2026

Damn and that’s like the best MCU Spider-Man movie, I’m on a roll here. It tells a great Spider-Man story without weighing him down with the multiverse or being Iron Man’s sidekick. It touches on parts of the Marvel universe in a way that feels natural instead of like commercials. It was just great.

111

Spatulo @spatulo.bsky.social · 28/07/2026

This is the best Splatoon game

111

Spatulo @spatulo.bsky.social · 22/07/2026

Reading the Martian it’s funny to see the parallels between it and Project Hail Mary. Another space story focusing primarily on a lone astronaut who has to do all sortsa science stuff, makeshift junk, EVAs, and airlocks. Differences like a very foul mouthed protag vs the squeaky clean teacher lol

111

Spatulo @spatulo.bsky.social · 19/07/2026

lol I forgot the Captain Toad credits are like less than half the game in

111

Spatulo @spatulo.bsky.social · 19/07/2026

Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 is somehow the 2nd to last Wario Land I’ve beaten by virtue of the Virtual Boy one existing. It’s good! More traditional platformer than the later ones but that’s not a bad thing.

132

Spatulo @spatulo.bsky.social · 18/07/2026

Beat Contra. Ngl almost feels like we haven’t improved. Gaming had it down right out the gate.

Death Note is good, I’m sure that’s a shocking opinion to have. Glad it’s still just as good as the last time I saw it. The best part of the show is definitely when it’s L vs Light but god if that ending isn’t an all-timer.

111

Spatulo @spatulo.bsky.social · 14/07/2026

Oh the credits may roll but the beat never ends with Rhythm Heaven Groove. It may share some DNA with its sister series WarioWare but this is definitely its own animal, a one of a kind series I’m so glad to finally experience

161

Spatulo @spatulo.bsky.social · 14/07/2026

Ever watch something from a while back and see like the DNA of a million other things you’ve seen in it, that’s me right now after seeing the Dark Crystal.

I think I can comfortably say, after a dozen runs and EVERY medal on Normal and Expert done, that this is the definitive version of Star Fox 64. It does not replace the original, nothing can, but Star Fox has never been better than this.
