Finally got an appetite stimulant for Nova (if it doesn't work then it has at least a good amount of calories). She managed to take herself up to at least half rations over the weekend. She's extremely vocal now and clingy which I think is very cute.

Nova sat on my chest this morning, reminding me too much of Freddie... She did eat some wet food on her own for breakfast without me having to point it out to her a couple of times. Only a tiny little bit but that's better than no food at all.

I just figured out that Nova will eat soaked dry food (soaked long enough to make it completely soft) but only if I put it one by one in front of her on the floor. Better than my attempts at syringe feeding her. And more calories too while being less messy. Alright then.

Good: Nova is easy to pill with a pill dispenser syringe. Bad: I need to syringe feed Nova because she still doesn't eat on her own. Worse: When syringe feeding she will try to paw the syringe away which makes this a lot harder since I'm alone.

I really thought, oh I can finally stop worrying for a while. But you know what? Nova said no food today and one of her eyes is clouding up and I don't think that's from the ointment they put in her eyes during the surgery to keep them moist. I don't even know anymore...

Every time I think Nova isn't sniffly right now she will hack up some snot and her nose is suddenly wet again. Only a few more days, then her bad teeth will get removed and the vet dentist agreed that there's a good chance her rhinitis will also clear up. Fingers crossed please.

Had an ai bro at an IT seminar today. Him: you can put your excel tables into an ai and ask it what to do and it will give you a step by step guide I held back... Honestly, are we not learning any software skills anymore?? I know how to do vlookup without giving ai my data.

Nova is getting unpredictable when it comes to when and where she will eat. The first three or so portions I had to put next to her, the last two or so she went to eat where her food spot actually is. Of course that makes it harder to give her all the additional stuff to help her immune system.

Yesterday I said to the vet dentist that Nova is surprisingly still eating really well. Today Nova is holding out on me, not eating as much. I'm not above using all the tricks I learned while Dino had FIP, including syringe feeding.

Nova update: Vet suspects feline chronic gingivostomatitis, she will get some back teeth removed in two weeks. Vet said, she might eventually need all of them removed, I asked why we're not doing that anyway. She was surprised because apparently people generally don't want that??

I was just thinking today "Nova doesn't act like she's sick and that's a bit concerning" and now I noticed she didn't eat all of her food which she usually does. Now I'm extra glad for the vet clinic appointment.

Turns out, Nova has an open infection near one of her back teeth and my vet referred me to a clinic because they don't have the right equipment for this. So. Hopefully getting this fixed helps with her rhinitis.

If you ever think you're weird about your cats please know that showering for me currently consists of aiming the showerhead away from me for a second while it's on the hottest temperature with the mist setting so that Nova can get some steam for her poor little nose.

Mochi just made me look all over the apartment for her piss because she's my only cat that marks sometimes but luckily so far only in the litterboxes. So guess who just spent several minutes wiping down litterbox walls with enzyme cleaner... I think I got it all now.

3 out of my 4 cats don't really have much of a primordial pouch so I thought at first that Nova is fat. She isn't. She just has a super mighty pouch. My first cat with real body armor!! Honestly weird how statistically my household is an anomaly.

Nova's ears are looking a lot better now and I can really only attribute it to her cold getting better. There is still a little bit of gunk in her right ear but it's been worse. Meanwhile, Bella either has an allergic reaction or a stress reaction so my poor princess is wearing a donut again. 😔
