In fairness, it did actually inspire me. It motivated me to continue making, and supporting, human-made art. It inspired me to let go of my imposter syndrome once and for all. Because the worst thing I've ever written is still better than the mindless jumble of AI 'ideas' 4/4 FIN

A lot of the stuff I saw looked pretty or 'cool', but ended up feeling painfully generic or 'off' in a way that was even more obvious once you looked closely. None of it had much, if any, thought behind it. It was just mindlessly mashed together. No thought. No process. No soul. 3/4

I tried to be as generous as I could, ignoring the obvious mistakes or the questionable design choices and trying to keep an open mind about what I was looking at. Even then, I was pretty unimpressed and, as mentioned, I remember nothing about them. If the goal was to inspire, it failed. 2/4

Yesterday, I decided (against my better judgement) to look at some AI videos - some animated, some still images - to see if they offered any inspiration, as the AI bros promise they do. It has been about 24 hours. I barely remember any of the stuff I looked at. 1/4

Rather than taking that as the wake-up call it was, they dug in, and began to look for other ways to impress their new friends. Andrea Dworkin’s classic Right-Wing Women explored the dynamics eloquently in 1978

The system is at fault, but it is built the way it is because a lot of ordinary people are okay with how it operates. If you reward a system that does bad things without consequences, the system will continue to do bad things because they know they get rewarded for it.

So, yeah, I don't miss those days one bit. I'm sure clubbing and partying can be fun in moderation, but the 90s/00s party culture? Hell no.

Mostly, I remember all the stuff about 'binge drinking' and 'club life' in the UK at the time, everyone getting just blotto drunk and having hangovers in the morning...if they made it home at all. And then they'd pressure friends to join in or called them wussies for not taking part.

I was never into the 'party scene' one bit. Even when I was old enough to drink and have sex (and actually live in a place with a club or two), being in a loud club getting drunk was so unappealing to me. And yes, I remember the date rape normalisation.

That's just my prediction. I could be wildly wrong (I certainly have been before) but after giving it some thought, I'm not convinced that it'll be a mega-hit on par with the first HP films. HP is still beloved, but in a quaint nostalgic way. Times (and tastes) have changed.
