Only 200 songs, eh? You’re lucky I’m a seasoned Sparks listener! Otherwise I might be intimidated by such a massive back catalog. But not me! No way! I use Apple Music, but the list is still useful. I can copy it to create my own in Apple. Looking forward to geeking out on this!

It’s been a little delayed by stupid life stuff. So I’m still just going off a playlist…haven’t done any full albums yet. But three more songs that have really grabbed me are Spy, Snail Shell and Where Your Eyes Don’t Go. Kid still into it! This is already the most he’s ever been into any band!

OK, @otterchu.bsky.social and others so qualified. I think it’s finally happened. I’m just beginning to like They Might Be Giants. So is my kid. What do I do?? We’re at the stage of muttering about birdhouses and souls and murderous drug-using statues. WHAT DO I DO?? (Not a joke I need advice!)

Yeah I’m not here much either. But I’m still listening to the album multiple times a week. The title track is one of the more creative things I’ve heard recently (that trumpet solo) and the whole thing is just so damn smooth. And those guitar solos. Really cool piece of art you made.

People create cool art a million different ways. I don’t care if someone sculpts out of dog shit, or uses tech…creating a piece of art is always better than creating nothing. So I hope some people take you up on it. Make a contest out if it. Get the label to cough up some prizes.

It’s one of my favorite things about aging. Just liking what you like; no matter the category or stigma. 25-year-old me would’ve never appreciated Sparks or Steely Dan…both of whom cracked my stubborn mind into being much more open to different types of music.

I got into Sparks mostly through YouTube videos. The excitement at finding a “new” video was a true delight. I really believe they are *the* perfect YouTube band. Each new link or suggested video is like a birthday present—there’s no telling what surprises are inside.

I didn’t much care for Phish, but then my head friends talked me into going to a show. That was in 1998. Blew me away. You have a point. They’ve both left behind a monument to modern music. One with their back catalogue and one with their live sets—both still ongoing. The talent is undeniable.
