Of recent fics I’ve read, this one still lingers in my mind, “Mausoleum” by ScreamingViking, Zenos/WoL so there is typical Zenos being Zenos, but also mind the tags ‘tis not for the faint of heart

“Mausoleum”
Pairing:Zenos/WoL
Tags (include): post-apocalypse, revenge, everyone is dead, hurt/comfort, consensual but not safe or sane, alternate timelines

a more recent favorite is the Tyrant/Dancing Green fic I wrote this year, “Something Unexpected”, it was fun trying to imagine how they would interact in private (and how to get them in bed lol) (archiveofourown.org/works/86705796)

“Something Unexpected”
Pairing: Tyrant/Dancing Green
Tags: porn with feelings, implied drinking, mildly dubious consent, first time, humor, fingerfucking, anal sex, confessions

"You have to draw every day if you want to make it" is tired, burnout-inducing, elitist advice and if I hear it again Im going to start giving out demerits. Draw when you can, when you have motivation, and if your intent is to improve always try to attach one goal to your drawing to focus on.

apostrophen.wordpress.com/2021/01/03/t... I’m genuinely never not thinking about this, and all the little ways a queer reader can spot when a book isn’t written by us or for us, as well as the frustration when cishet readers object to being “taken out of the fantasy” by reminders of queer reality

One of my friend’s favorite artists is Taemin of Shinee, and the choreography for his comeback title track “Guilty” went so viral so many people were doing redraws, it became a whole trend. But he was so rarely referenced, in fact there were posts referencing other redraws instead of him.

Taemin of Shinee’s iconic dance move in his comeback title track “Guilty”, one arm reaching from under his shirt up to his lips, lifting his shirt to expose his abdomen and boxers

Also want to say, if an artist, big or small, starts issuing takedown claims all across the platform(s), I’m pretty sure the community would turn around and call them entitled, stuck up, full of themselves, “it’s just taking inspiration why are they acting like they’re the god of creation”

Got to go to the National Portrait Gallery. Very happy museum nerd. A good quote for my art friends:

Quote from the exhibit Artist to Artist:
The work of an artist is often thought of as solitary. We picture the painter confronting a blank canvas alone, studio door figuratively shut. Yet few artists emerge from a social vacuum. Even those who prefer to work in private will see other artists for myriad reasons: mentorship and inspiration practical assistance, a sense of solidarity or shared purpose. Artists are often each other's first and most important audience, providing vitan support before critics, curators, amd collectors arrive to a scene. Two artists caring about one another's work is fundamental to the creation of any art "world," large or small.

if you made art this year, you did well. a sketch, even if it was scrapped ; a poem, even if it was deleted — mattered. you put thought to paper, you engaged with the creative alchemy of turning feeling to something tangible. doesn't matter if you weren't productive "enough." or good "enough."
