It's not always a lack of testing that leads to bugs reaching the user. I imagine doing a bug fix at that time was a non-trivial effort, but "won't fix" is a resolution you see for a lot of bugs even now. BTW - my kid found a bug by slamming on the keyboard once too. It's a valid test case!

I don't think it goes far enough. The baseball season is crazy long. Teams that are out of the pennant race after Labor Day must see a huge drop off in attendance anyway. Just end the regular season at the end of August. Football and school are starting up. No one is watching losing baseball.

Shouldn't the Democrats have something like an Elon Donations Tracker posted on all of their websites and social media? Make this SALIENT? Might it make sense to point out repeatedly that he is a white supremacist and ask the public why he would be backing the GOP?

We need a Bill of Privacy Rights so badly. The founders could not have imagined the kind of automated data gathering that's possible now. Being permanently recorded at all times in public is the reality we now face.

This wasn't a mistake. The mistake was deciding in the 70s that they could win w/o organized labor while taking corporate money from "uncontroversial" corporations. They cozied up to Wall Street and Health Insurance. Lo and behold the corruption in those sectors has made them Very Controversial.

that's why i don't believe this is about what they say it is. there's insufficient evidence to assume AI can replace some giant percentage of the workforce. imo it's about burning more oil and gas and it's about a mass-surveillance machine. the first is certain, the second very likely to work.

until and unless ai datacenters stop guzzling water, spewing poison, and stealing from people, i will continue to think ai is bad, regardless of what it does. ok if it cures cancer and stops climate change and fascism i'll change my mind.

AI is effectively a digital avatar of the people who build it. Who are all, apparently, Nazi pedophile sociopaths. But sure, let them run your bank account and email.

Americans get that AI doesn't do anything for them if they aren't a CEO. What they don't get is what all the AI buildout is really for. - To burn fossil fuels. Trump has made this explicit. - To create a surveillance state. They want to be able to track everything we do. All of us.

Nader's voters were never going to vote for a Gore. It was Nader or no one. Gore ran a dull, centrist campaign and still lost his own state ffs. Illegal FL voter purges were the real story no one heard about.

the way to "not have a u.s.-style debate" is to tell the oil lobby and their paid shills in government to fuck all the way off. why listen to those with a financial interest in burning more oil when the science is clear?

The thing about gerrymandering is that it can take a few safe districts and turn them into several districts with a smaller advantage. That's great unless there's a big wave for the other party. Then those smaller-advantage districts could get swamped.

As an All-Out Nuclear War disliker, I've argued with anti-Russia types online who actually don't think Russia's missiles will work. As in, when they try to launch a nuclear attack at U.S. cities, none of their ~500 nuclear missiles will work. That's the plan for "escalation."

Every now and then I see myself referred to as an "AI Denier" and I want to be clear I acknowledge "AI" exists, it's just I think it's a massive energy drain, created from theft, implemented poorly for inappropriate tasks by loathsome tech executives who get hard at the idea of the rest of us dying

the thing that's going to wipe out the salmon is not sea lions. or orcas. or managed fisheries. it's loss of food from ocean warming and acidification, along with loss of spawning habitat due to flood, drought, and fire.
