Starliner update - NASA and Boeing committed to getting Starliner human certified. Next flight will be uncrewed, NET December this year, Woody Hoburg will be the Commander of Starliner 2, the first crewed flight since CFT, but that’s not until mid-2028.

Congratulations SpaceX on getting Starship orbital for the first time. They are deploying Starlink satellites now and already made contact with the first two. Still - a few more Raptor 3 issues that need ironing out, but not enough to mean another hard splashdown for the Super Heavy booster.

I was walking on Hornsea beach today and I found a cool rock - I’m sure you bonafide space nerds can guess what space object/mission it immediately brought to mind… Answers on a postcard! 😉
Rock that looks like two rocks that were smashed together and somehow stuck together (one a little smaller than the other). Reminiscent of comet 67P

Did they set-up the booster landing camera on the wrong landing site?! We saw one come in, I heard the sonic booms of the second, but nothing appeared of the second pad they were filming. Kinda odd. They did confirm good landing though…

Under 20 minutes until the launch of the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope. They are at 70% go (I assume due to weather) and hopeful of a good launch on a Falcon Heavy. Tune in on NASA’s YouTube channel now!

By the way, the leaks are in the tunnel in Zvezda that leads to docking port. Leak was first identified in 2019, location found in 2020. Various attempts to fix and seal since then. In 2024 it got rapidly worse and cracks were elevated to a high probability *and* high impact issue by NASA.

Official NASA statement regarding ISS leak and (potential) evacuation prep. Fingers crossed they can fix it. #ISS #NASA
The Zvezda service module transfer tunnel, known as PrK, has suffered from cracks and leaks for some time, and has been mitigated by Roscosmos as much as possible to date. The cracks have always been a concern that NASA watches very closely. NASA and Roscosmos have been working to determine the root cause of the cracks, and Roscosmos manages the issue through operational mitigation measures and periodic partial-repair efforts.

Following new leaks, Roscosmos has elected to proceed with a more extensive repair operation on Friday, June 5. Out of an abundance of caution, NASA has directed all four of the agency's SpaceX Crew-12 members and NASA astronaut Chris Williams to assume an elevated safety posture in the Dragon spacecraft while the repair is underway.

We continue to work with our Russian counterparts, along with the rest of the international community that supports the space station, to arrive at a more permanent resolution.
