Thank you. I’ve been building models since 80’s. I find it so satisfying.

Just finished a commission for the MUSÉE DE LA CIVILISATION in Quebec. I spend so much time on these models that a part of me is always sad to see it go out the door. Fingers crossed it survives shipping. #mars #miniatures #spaceart #3dprinting

Much of my week has been spent building greenhouses. As winter comes, I’m going to have to spend more of my gardening time indoors. #miniatures #ttrpg #3dprinting

Hot tip: Multi Layer Insulation (MLI) is the gold covered thermal blanket used to wrap parts of space craft. While looking for something I could use for a scale model version of MLI, I ate chocolate. I’m not saying all problems can be solved by eating chocolate, but some can. #space #miniature

Last year I received the Pioneer award from the National Space Society for outstanding contributions toward being a space fairing civilization. Other recent winners, astrophysicist and Queen drummer Brian May, and author of The Martian and Project Hail Mary, Andy Wier. Im absolutely honoured. #space

Screenshot Saturday - Ares Inception I've been working on a variety of ways to assign tasks to crew members. Some pieces of equipment can be interacted with directly, but some times you just want to bring attention to a an area. And dust. I love making dust. I put it everywhere. #gamedev #unreal

Screenshot Saturday - Ares Inception I've spent the week making things dusty. Dust from the drones, dust from the decent of a lander, dust from the wind on screen at the same time, while trying to keep the FPS to over 50. #gamedev #mars #unreal #indiedev #gameart

It’s kinda funny. It was just an off the cuff comment and I’ve seen it show up on Facebook, Twitter, and Bluesky. I’m glad it resonated. People need to know the dangers of telescopes.

Screenshot Saturday - Ares Inception I've been working on the dust effects from the rotor wash using Niagara particle effects. Because of the thin atmosphere, the coaxial counter rotating rotors is the most effective orientation for the blades on a Mars helicopter. #gamedev #Mars #unreal

After years of designing smaller space stations, in 2020 I got to work on an O'Neill Cyliner. With a 1km diameter, it was much larger than anything I had created previously. I often run it on a loop on one of my peripheral monitors. youtu.be/a1aSA_1kl-Y #art #space

I 3d printed these on an Anycubic Photon. Resin printers are fantastic for custom minis. I’ll print a dozen at a time in different poses and different scales and paint them all together. Then I have a stash to work with as I’m assembling different scenes.

Here, the chalky pigment is only brushed on. Pushed into the painted terrain, but not "fixed". If this were a gaming table that wouldn't work but because this scene is behind glass and never touched, I felt comfortable leaving it as is. If I had to fix it, I would use a matte clear acrylic sealer.

I’ve been fascinated by heavy equipment since I was a little boy. I’ve spent so many hours drawing, modeling, and building them, that I have a mini garage full of options to choose from when setting up scenes. I'll never stop playing. #Mars #miniatures #3dprinting

After decades of working in cramped spaces, I moved into a larger studio allowing me to increase the size of the landscapes. I could create a scene large enough to tell stories. A playground. The second picture is one of my favorite stages of design, the texture. #sciart #art #miniature #space

When my son was really lilttle, I got a 3d scan of me holding him. I printed it in resin, and hand painted it. Now I put the little "Mini-Us" all over the place. Here I'm showing the boy some new equipment.

I rarely glue elements down and make the scenes permanent because I like the flexibility of adjusting and removing components to tell different stories. The vehicle components are designed in 3ds Max 3d printed on an Anycubic photo resin printer. #art #miniature #3dprinting #Mars #space

The feathering of pigment into the landscape is absolutely one of my favourite stages of building models. Structures are designed in 3ds Max and 3d Printed, hand painted. Landscape is carved XPS foam with cork, gravel, and plaster, washed, painted, airbrushed, and dry brushed.

Saw this on my walk and I can totally relate. Sometimes I feel like the concrete. Sometimes I feel like the grass. And sometimes I feel like the little bug hanging on.

Hi, I'm Bryan. I've been an artist my whole life but have focused on the conceptual design of space exploration for most of it. I'm an optimist and believe we can do better both at "home and abroad", and create images to help visualize what I think humanity is capable of. #Space #Art #Mars
