What Id like to propose is union between projects to define atproto communities at the protocol level & above, how distributed open social can be directly built into trust & safety tools, and how the needs of LLM governance, protocol governance, & social governance in general can be served together.

And do you hate AI? Want to keep it out of our communities? By tying the use of LLMs into our social trust and safety infrastructure, it would give us stronger means to enforce AI bans programmatically. We can kick out the practice rather than kicking out the people. (Or, you know, both.)

This may sound to some like adding restriction to LLM usage (it is!) but imagine the collaborative primitives and social context that would exist in such a system. Social control would help us navigate the problems and opportunities of the tech together, with community being the primary interface.

Hot take: LLM harnesses should live in community infrastructure tied to collaborative moderation tooling for transparency, security and governance to align. It's irresponsible to create harnesses that don't have a social governance layer rooted in community agency, and great trust and safety UX.

I’m fully on board with techno-optimism so long as it goes hand in hand with stronger unions and worker coops. Without organized labor, technological advancement benefits empire and its oligarchs far more than the average Joey; just look at what the internet without organizing got us.
