![I unmask a lot more, and I’m much more gentle with myself about the things I “need” to endure. Little by little, I’m making my home my sanctuary. I’m praying again and allowing myself to take it slow - it can be hard to believe in anything when you lose a parent, and that’s completely understandable.
I’m unlearning my toxic traits. Do I stumble and backslide sometimes? Yes, absolutely. But I’m getting better, and recognizing when things can be tackled with reframing or inner child work, or when things seem more biological than psychological.
Oh, and I’m unofficially divorced as of this week. Just waiting for the courts to send me the official notice. I do get lonely, but I am free and me-centred. And after years of centering my ex, that feels like freedom.
I am miserable without my father. And I take today off every year to sit with the grief. His memory gave me the strength to turn my life into something actively lived for me.
