I have a homebrewed item in my campaign called the Ring of Lesser Arcane Boon. They come in bags of 20-30 and the effect is determined upon pulling a ring from the bag. Most of them are pretty mundane - one makes your hands really cold, for example - but there's one that's a real stinker.
