Doesn't change the fact that the American version lived up to its reputation, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't get my ass kicked trying to finish it. Overall, though, it's everything about the original game, but amplified, and I still think it's the best of the NES originals.

Truth be told, I felt that Dracula was actually *easier* in the American version, because his first phase moves slower than it does in the Japanese version. So I'd get to his second and third phases with more health, usually.

Oh yeah, I love doing this with the jambalaya mix! That with some bay leaves, Tabasco, Créole seasoning, andouille, celery, onion, bell pepper, and a can of fire-roasted tomatoes makes a hearty pot that'll tide you over for a week. Definitely not *as* cheap, but it's still a good way to make do.

For the record, I took the Alucard path for the JP version, so I'll be doing the Sypha path in the US version, to see the stages I missed the first time. By far, I lost the most lives in Stage 7B, to the falling blocks, and Stage 8, during the fight with Death. Dracula's Castle doesn't fuck around.

Finished Akumajou Densetsu tonight! That was meant to be my practice run for the American version of Castlevania III, but uh― I don't think I'm starting that tonight. The Japanese version may have been the easier one, but my hands are shaking like crazy after those last three stages. 😅

Went by a card store today, where they had a bunch of Weiss Schwarz cards for dirt cheap―I guess they were trying to clear them out. For basically pocket change, I grabbed a few Azur Lane cards for the art. They didn't have many of my favorites, but they at least had Seattle, Guam, and Argus.
