If you see this, post your art with marginalia! (I LOVE A GOOD BORDER)

A watercolor painting of an anthropomorphic rabbit garden trimming the hedges of a labyrinth. Chickadees eat seeds he has strewn in the path. Border panels around the central illustration depict scenery from around the maze- a medieval tower and fairground, and various fountains and ornaments.

A watercolor painting featuring an anthropomorphic rooster captain at the helm of a ship. Beyond him is a map and a little inset seascape

A watercolor painting of an anthropomorphic black bear in monks robes, doing a gay little illumination of him and his secret deer bf having a clandestine meeting in the woods. The illustration is bordered by medieval-style vines in a rainbow gradient arching above him.

A watercolor painting in olive green-golds, chartreuse, orange and grey. Mist swirls around a robed anthropomorphic owl in some kind of catacomb. Roots crawl down the wall above the entryway. The owl holds a gnarled staff in one hand and a glowing orb in the other. Stone niches behind her display candles and reliquaries. The panels flanking the central image show ornately decorated bones of a deer leg on the left, and on the right, a closeup of an elk skull wrapped in pearls with a semiprecious gem in the eye socket.

A Wild Heart commission. The center subject is a dragon with the traits of an crocodilian, a hyena, and a leopard seal. In the bars to either side are a sunrise over a sprawling old forest.

A Divine Induction commission. A hooded figure with a skeletal face and antlers hold up a single coin in their claws. The border consists of nature, celestial bodies, and the afterlife.

A golden dragon cries over a mountain range as it makes figure 8's in the air. The lake below shows the reflection of the dragon as the sun, and text that reads "I want to go home" is in the center. On either side are outlines of different flowers: Thistle, lily of the valley, daisy, tulip, petunia, and pansy.

It really depends on how much they understand the process or respect artists. It's the "How much does a banana cost? $10?" mentality but with time and effort. Its so much better to just ask for artists to submit a couple pieces to go through and just choose one to comm?? It's basically the same??
