“Orchestral Turnovers In The Dark” I suspect they’re performing Enola Gâteau. 🥐🎻🌑 #insomnia
A grand orchestra of golden, triangular apple turnovers performs on a shadowy concert-hall stage beneath a crescent moon. The pastry musicians play violins, cellos, brass, woodwind, harp, and percussion by the amber glow of their music-stand lamps, while a particularly flaky turnover conducts from the central podium. The dramatic blue-black lighting evokes a moody 1980s synth-pop album cover: Orchestral Turnovers in the Dark, presumably performing their celebrated hit, “Enola Gâteau”.

“Constantly stopping these briefings halfway through is becoming a pain.” m.xkcd.com/261/
Black-and-white XKCD stick-figure cartoon of a Second World War military briefing around a map. An officer says, “General, Italian forces have entered Egypt.” The briefer begins comparing Mussolini’s command decisions with Hitler’s, but is interrupted halfway by someone shouting, “Hey. Godwin’s Law.” He replies, “Dammit. You know, this may become a problem.”

Very much so. Computers are a bit like Nunchucks; they can do amazing looking things, but it's easy to end up injured, or looking silly, or indeed both. You put it succinctly: spend some time learning how it works. A small investment of effort can be very rewarding.
Image of nunchucks: two short wooden sticks joined together at one end by a fairly short chain.

Deceptively simple. Can look amazing in expert hands. Can be a shortcut to A&E in less-expert & overconfident hands.

To mix up some rôles.... “By Grabthar's Hammer, Alan Rickman Will Live On”
Genuine surprise on Grüber's/Rickman's face in his final & fatal scene in the classic Xmas film Die Hard.

Because he was expecting to be dropped on a count of three.

But they dropped him at one, deliberately 🤣

Unfortunate presentation order plus lack of glasses left me feeling really, really confused when I read this. Then feeling really worried. Then feeling really dumb 🤪
Unfortunate ordering and visual confusion left me wondering why someone would want Memorex Twin Pack Compact Cassettes from 1982 "inserted" in anything! Oops 🫣

Made me think of The Beat... “Mirror in the bathroom, please talk free The door is locked, just you and me Can I take you to a restaurant that's got glass tables? You can watch yourself while you are eating” Maybe the lack of realisation goes even deeper...
A middle-aged man sits alone at a restaurant table with a glossy mirrored surface, eating by candlelight. He looks tired and slightly dishevelled, with a loosened tie and an expression of quiet contentment as he gazes down at his own reflection in the tabletop, seemingly treating it as company. The surrounding seats are empty, reinforcing the joke that he doesn't realise he is dining alone. Warm lighting and the reflective table create an intimate but faintly melancholy atmosphere.

Actually, it turns out that even ants don't like to crowd together that insanely close. Only humans. So this veritable formicine superhighway tops out at about 15 lanes 🫠
15 parallel lines of ants march along the delightful Italian street from the start of this thread.

AI generabut to illustrate a point about space usage rather than pure lazy AI slop!
